About Prairie Payments Joint Venture (PPJV)

In response to the rapidly changing payments landscape and the multiyear Payments Canada modernization initiative, the Centrals of Alberta, Manitoba (CUCM) and Saskatchewan formed a joint venture known as PaaS on behalf of all prairie credit unions. PaaS resources are in the starting phases of a two year project to move to a payments as a service model with IBM. They are also intent upon streamlining the payments functions between the three Centrals. Their goal is to ensure prairie credit unions are competitive in payments and have access to efficient, cost-effective, modernized payments processing infrastructure.

The Position

The Vice President, Strategy and Engagement is responsible for leading the Prairie Payments Joint Venture (PPJV) communication and engagement strategies to ensure credit union centrals and credit union management are engaged with relevant payments-related information, aware of strategic challenges and options, and how PPIJV can / will provide solutions. They lead the PPJV’s strategic thinking and measurement processes in an inclusive and wide-ranging manner. 

Under the guidance of the CEO, the Vice President of Strategy and Communications is responsible for the executive leadership of strategic shared services including Corporate Strategy, Marketing and Communications. They collaborate across the organization to set short term and long term strategic priorities of the organization. The Vice President will lead the development and execution of branding, marketing and both internal and external communications for the joint venture and assure that resources support the organization’s strategic goals. They will work closely with the CEO, other executives and the Board of Directors to coordinate and align strategic priorities of the organization.

The Person

The successful candidate will have a University level education in business (MBA preferred), combined with 10-15 years of senior leadership experience in the credit union system or other financial institution. The ability to think strategically and critically are key to success in this position, as is demonstrated excellence in relationship management, communication, negotiation, influencing, and interpersonal skills.  Deep understanding of corporate planning and measurement processes and theories is necessary for success, along with a solid understanding of executive level communications and stakeholder engagement.  You are naturally curious and a big picture thinker.

This is a permanent position that can be located in Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg or Toronto dependent on the successful candidates’ location.  Currently work can be done by remotely from home.
