Manager, Accounting Operations
We’re looking for a Manager, Accounting Operations to join our team! This position is integral to the function of our organization, playing a critical role in our Corporate Accounting team. The key responsibilities for this role include:
- Provide leadership to ensure the successful execution of daily accounting operations required to provide timely and accurate delivery of consolidated financial information.
- Champion continuous process improvement initiatives, Microsoft products, and be an organizational expert in Innovation’s GL system. Identify opportunities and recommend solutions that will enhance or improve current business processes and infrastructure.
- Support a broad range of projects in support of business strategy from a contract and vendor relation view.
- Support the annual budgeting process, external audit, and projection process, and make presentations as required.
- Ensure strong governance and internal financial controls across activities and information. Provide recommendations and implement changes to minimize risk exposure.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field in addition. CPA designation (or working towards one) would be an asset
- 4-6 years of job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of IFRS® Accounting Standards as issued by the International Accounting Standards Board (“IASB”)
- Proficiency in using accounting software, data analytics tools, and digital platforms (including Microsoft)
- Detail-oriented and risk aware, contributing to the safeguarding of our company’s assets and reputation
- Proficient in digital literacy, including (but not limited to) critical thinking, problem solving and navigation using digital solutions
- Use and comfortability with a variety of Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Teams, Viva, Power Automate, PowerBI)

What will you do?
- Evaluate current financial practices and procedures as to efficiency and risk to safeguard credit union assets.
- Complete consolidated financial statements.
- Analyze budget variances and provide recommendations on ways to rectify (if required).
- Co-ordinate the external audit process.
- Play an integral role in the annual budgeting process including coordinating the gathering of information for the annual operating and capital budget from senior management. Make presentations as required.

- Manage / co-manage large scale department projects including the development of the project plan, research, preparing position papers, developing process changes, valuations, data development and qualitative disclosure.
- Prepare and deliver necessary financial accounting reporting to stakeholders, including the maintenance, preparation, and delivery of financial reporting to the regulators (OSFI, Bank of Canada).
- Continual work to find ways to improve processes that create efficiencies at the organizational level.

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field in addition to a CPA designation (or working towards one).
- 5+ years of job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
- Proficiency in using accounting software, data analytics tools, and digital platforms (including Microsoft).
- Attention to detail, communication skills, and analytical thinking.

The Supervisor, Support Services – Deposit Team will be responsible for leading, motivating, and coaching team members in deposit administration; processing, monitoring and completion of documentation as well as providing information to all staff and members on deposit products and procedures. - In-depth knowledge of investment operations, including investments and account documentation processes.
- Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on operations and business processes.
- Demonstrated experience in people management, with a track record of successfully leading and developing teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven experience in implementing process improvements and driving operational efficiency.
- Experience in budgeting and resource allocation, with a focus on optimizing staff numbers to meet departmental requirements.

- Minimum 1 year of formal post-secondary education or equivalent; plus 1 to 3 years of job-related experience (i.e., opening business accounts, consumer lending, quality assurance) or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of various software packages, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, ECI, ProLender, FCT, iClic
- Completion of courses related to Consumer Lending, Residential Mortgage, Commercial and Agricultural Lending would be considered an asset
- Proven sales and service skills and commitment to growing Innovation Federal Credit Union business attained through demonstrated use of sales and service principles
- Strong communication skills with the ability to relate well to members and co-workers
