Treasury Analyst

About this Opportunity

The Treasury Analyst specializes in monitoring and managing the financial resources of the credit union. As a seasoned financial professional, you are responsible for the administration of treasury rates, cash and liquidity management, investments, and loan syndications, as well as the maintenance of the loan loss model. The Treasury Analyst analyzes, reports on, and shares insights regarding the operational and financial performance of the credit union while contributing to broader accounting and finance functions and providing support and back-up to the Manager of Finance & Accounting as required.

Working closely with the Manager of Finance & Accounting, and in compliance with policy, procedure, and regulatory requirements, this position is responsible to:

  • Monitor and manage liquidity, foreign currency requirements, and cash flow, and manage the purchase and maturity of credit union investments,
  • Monitor market interest rates and recommend strategies for product pricing,
  • Develop and implement investment strategies including the use of syndication loans, leases, credit pools, and securitization,
  • Update & maintain BankBI: Complete daily updates, manage data feeds and accounts, and analyze data within the software,
  • Perform accounting functions for loan and lease portfolios, prepare financial statements, and manage reporting and monthly remittances for off-balance sheet sold loans and brokered deposits,

The Treasury Analyst assists with:

  • Management of the credit union securitization program,
  • Reporting and data gathering for the quarterly interest rate risk simulation process,
  • Maintenance of the loan loss model including validation, data cleaning, and analysis to identify emerging risks,
  • Cyclical reporting such as PST/GST, CUDGC, Stats Canada, and CMHC reporting and the Annual Information Return for Selected Listed Financial Institutions, and
  • Assist internal/external auditors with interim and year end review.

Your Qualifications

You have a degree in accounting, finance, or economics, or a professional accounting designation with three to five years of related experience. Equivalencies considered. Preference to individuals with treasury and/or risk analysis experience. The successful candidate will be proficient in BankBI software and have expert skill in MS Excel including analysis, modelling, forecasting, and reporting. Report writing experience is required. Must have a demonstrated, on-going commitment to continuous learning and development.

About The Role

Primary Purpose

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall credit union’s deposit services portfolio and ensure deposit activities are following sound business practices, legislation, regulations and policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of policies and procedures as it relates to member service, anti-money laundering, fraud and deposit products and services.
  • Develop and implement Human Resources programs to maintain and enhance a positive work environment and ensure the credit union fulfills its responsibility as an employer.
  • Work closely with third party technology providers to ensure the technology is meeting the credit unions needs.
  • Oversee the implementation and evaluation of annual and long-term credit union marketing plan.
  • Lead and oversee a variety of projects aimed at enhancing the member experience and operational capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Post secondary education in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience at a management level, preferably within the financial service sector.

The VP Market, Liquidity & Model Risk Management will be responsible for ensuring the organization’s financial stability and driving risk-aware practices. What will you do?

  • Identify, evaluate, and monitor risks associated with our market and liquidity risk, providing effective challenge to business lines.
  • Collaborate with the business line to develop and implement risk management strategies to manage exposures within predetermined risk parameters and metrics.
  • Collaborate with model developers, data scientists, and business units to enhance model performance and accuracy.
  • Evaluate model performance under adverse conditions and propose enhancements to mitigate model vulnerabilities.
  • Evaluate and assess the risk profile new initiatives and optimize risk-return trade-offs while aligning with organizational goals.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis and oversee risk exposure of financial instruments, portfolios, and investment strategies.

Some things that would impress us:

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
  • 10+ years’ related experience (i.e., model governance, OSFI E23 Model Risk Management Guidelines)
  • Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) are considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in risk modeling software and financial tools.
  • Strong analytical abilities and quantitative skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

The Privacy Analyst is responsible for assisting the Legal Department with oversight of the Credit Union’s Privacy Program, with monitoring and reporting privacy-related risks, and with providing guidance to the first line of defence on potential privacy requirements associated with strategic or business decisions.

What will you do?

  • Assist the Legal Department with oversight of the Credit Union’s Privacy program.
  • Support the implementation of innovative privacy risk management processes that create efficiencies.
  • Assist with reviewing and making recommendations on privacy impact assessments for corporate initiatives.
  • Assist in drafting privacy policies and procedures and related documentation, and privacy training materials.
  • Support the maintenance of the organization’s privacy program that aligns with the Credit Union’s strategic objectives.
  • Support the Legal Department’s monitoring of enterprise-wide privacy risk exposures, and with completing reports related to such exposures.

Some things that would impress us:

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or University Degree in a related field. Professional privacy certifications or designations (e.g. CIPP or equivalent) is an asset.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar privacy role.
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial privacy laws and guidelines in Canada, including Bill C-27, and OSFI’s B-13 and Third-Party Risk Management Guidelines.
  • Familiarity with privacy risk management and compliance, the ability to draft privacy related policies and procedures, and the competence to provide privacy related guidance where required.
  • Demonstrated strength in organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
