The Position:

The Manager, Finance directs the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and is responsible for ensuring compliance to accounting and financial standards and regulations.  The Manager, Finance is also responsible, but not limited to, the following:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on RCU’s operations; make recommendations to enhance performance or mitigate losses
  • Chair Strategic Finance Committee (SFM)
  • Liaise with internal auditors to coordinate and assist as needed; Analyze and coordinate recommendations and responses with various departments
  • Prepares, analyzes, interprets, and circulates relevant financial statements for presentation to senior management, board, regulators, and other relevant stakeholders. Overall responsibility for the integrity of this financial information
  • Asset Liability Management (ALM) -Monitor/document asset/liability matching on an ongoing basis to balance risk and profitability
  • Oversees the annual budget preparation
  • Manage and monitor investments and borrowings to ensure sufficient cash flow for RCU’s daily operations

The Person:

  • Post-secondary degree and 5 Years relevant experience
  • Experience with budget development and financial analysis interpretation
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • The ability to work well independently and as a team member in a fast-paced, changing environment is essential
  • Time management and detailed oriented
  • Overall understanding of Credit Union products and services is an asset
  • Overall understanding of banking and accounting systems is an asset

Who we are:

Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation (the Corporation) is the deposit guarantor for Saskatchewan credit unions and the primary regulator for Saskatchewan credit unions and SaskCentral, together, Provincially Regulated Financial Institutions (PRFIs). We work closely with these institutions to ensure they employ sound business practices to enhance the strength and stability of the Saskatchewan credit union system. What you’ll do:

As an Associate Manager, you will join a team of professionals that collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to support regulatory policy and prevention initiatives. You will:

  • research, develop, and implement regulatory policy initiatives for credit unions, including inputs to the Corporation’s crisis management framework and deposit guarantee fund initiatives
  • monitor, analyze, and report on consolidated PRFI financial and non-financial performance trends
  • conduct ongoing research and analysis of the financial services industry, Saskatchewan credit union system, and the regulatory and economic environment
  • build and maintain effective relationships that support achievement of the Corporation’s objectives, such as proactive loss prevention and PRFI self-regulation

 

What you’ll need:

  • three to five years of experience in a related field, preferably with exposure to financial services or a regulatory environment
  • experience in the oversight of financial institutions, either internally through an institution’s oversight function (e.g., audit, compliance, risk, etc.) or externally through a regulatory body, would be considered an asset
  • undergraduate degree in commerce or business or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • proven knowledge in policy development, risk management, and financial analysis and reporting; strong research, communication, and writing skills are required

 

Core competencies focus on decision making, problem solving, teamwork, communication, relationship management, and conflict resolution.

The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $93,749.   • Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, or Economics is an asset

VP, Operations

Primary Purpose:

The Vice President, Operations (VP, Operation) is a member of the Senior Leadership Team who provides leadership, oversight and coordination of retail banking operations, insurance, financial planning, and facilities for Northern Savings Credit Union.  This leader translates business strategies into goals, objectives, and processes to affect sound and prudent operations of the Credit Union all in an effort to ensure exemplary member service.

This business unit leader is responsible for sales and services including, member support, needs assessment, escalation of issues, overseeing the provision of exemplary member service, providing for engagement of employees, managing the operations to be efficient and effective.  This position is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the buildings, efficiency, and good working conditions of the facilities.

The VP, Operations is to conduct their duties while demonstrating positive leadership within the Credit Union and externally in the community. They are to inspire the employees to achieve their maximum potential and produce results in the best interest of the credit union while respecting the members.
