Responsibilities:

  • Manage lending products including loan creation, user acceptance testing, deployment, and issue resolution

Senior Financial Analyst

Reporting to the Director, Finance, the primary focus of this full time role is to interpret and apply legislative and regulatory requirements to ensure the credit union maintains compliance within the areas related to Finance.  The application of this legislation and regulatory requirements is in the form of the calculation of key financial metrics (capital, liquidity, and securitization ratios) and preparation of monthly and annual reporting to the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA), Kindred’s provincial regulator.  In addition, to contribute expertise and analysis to support finance department responsibilities relating to budget, treasury, and financial/cost analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares monthly and annual reporting to regulator (FSRA), including calculation of key financial ratios including capital, liquidity, and securitization.
  • Performs complex accounting analysis (i.e. IFRS9 ECL analysis).
  • Provides support for Foreign Exchange relating to the Treasury function
  • Supports the annual budget with analysis, in collaboration with the Director, Finance.
  • Contributes expertise in financial analysis in support of project work and business cases.
  • Leads response to requests for data from regulators on behalf of the credit union.

Position Overview
The Summerland & District Credit Union (SDCU) Loans Financial Service Administrator (LFSA) plays an essential
role in support and assistance to Staff & members while providing service excellence and fostering
relationships with their positive attitude and excellent product knowledge. The LFSA understands
the importance of ensuring that lending documentation and processes are completed accurately and in
a timely manner. The successful applicant has a positive and adaptable approach with strong

Key Responsibilities

• Provide lending support as needed, including processing, posting, auditing and verification of loan applications and related documentation to ensure accuracy in computerized loan systems and manual paperwork completion, or other related tasks providing appropriate documentation preparation, correction and processing within appropriate relative risk, legislation and/ or regulations
• Working with all SCU staff, adopt, implement, and maintain the best practices from established practices, procedures, and policies.
• Provide support for Lending departments, as well as other departments or positions as required

• Keep apprised of changing rules and regulations pertaining to relevant legislation requirements, as well as keeping a current knowledge of all SCU lending, and deposit products and services.
• Act as internal auditor for all retail staff’s day work, checking accuracy against banking system and reports; reviews and corrects banking system anomalies identified on BI reports; tracks day work to identify serious errors, misuse, or training needs; reports exceptions to appropriate Manager
• Process all documents received from Retail Services, or other departments, as required
• Administer all applicable registered products, including all reporting

The Opportunity

 

Reporting to the Manager Accounting and Centralized Services, you will have four to six years’ experience in administration ideally in a Credit Union or Banking environment.

 

You will provide prompt, professional, courteous and accurate services to internal and external members performing, overseeing and reporting on a variety of treasury and finance duties, procedures and analysis relating to the Credit Union; executing day-to-day cash forecasting processes; and making investments and maintaining financial processes and reporting.

 

As the ideal candidate you have completed a business degree or diploma with a specialization in Finance or Economics, CFA, or a professional accounting designation. The role will require you to work with Business Intelligence Analysts and/or end-users from all areas of business to gather, analyze, and interpret reporting requirements into detailed design specifications.  You will collaborate with the data warehouse development team to design, develop, and enhance our enterprise data warehouse and conduct and review User Acceptance Testing (UAT) prior to development into the production environment.

You will work with all areas of business to develop, enhance, and automate ongoing reports and dashboards including regulatory and compliance reporting while transitioning reporting knowledge to support other members of the Reporting & Analytics team.  You will also be asked to provide ad hoc reports and data extracts as requested.

You will develop, test, and enhance statistical, machine learning, AI, and other BI solutions to discover new insights. You will also work with service partners as necessary and utilize internal and external data sources fully to better serve our members and improve our business operations.

You act as a liaison with the Business Intelligence Analysts and stakeholder to ensure effective change management practices are followed.  All this while promoting a high adoption rate of reports and business intelligence solutions and providing initial post-deployment support for end-users.

You will oversee and assist with the ongoing maintenance of our data warehouse, BI models, and business intelligence solutions and provide technical support to Analysts and Assistants and seek opportunities to continuously improve our reporting and business intelligence capabilities while ensuring department procedures are documented and updated.
