The Privacy Analyst is responsible for assisting the Legal Department with oversight of the Credit Union’s Privacy Program, with monitoring and reporting privacy-related risks, and with providing guidance to the first line of defence on potential privacy requirements associated with strategic or business decisions.

What will you do?

  • Assist the Legal Department with oversight of the Credit Union’s Privacy program.
  • Support the implementation of innovative privacy risk management processes that create efficiencies.
  • Assist with reviewing and making recommendations on privacy impact assessments for corporate initiatives.
  • Assist in drafting privacy policies and procedures and related documentation, and privacy training materials.
  • Support the maintenance of the organization’s privacy program that aligns with the Credit Union’s strategic objectives.
  • Support the Legal Department’s monitoring of enterprise-wide privacy risk exposures, and with completing reports related to such exposures.

Some things that would impress us:

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or University Degree in a related field. Professional privacy certifications or designations (e.g. CIPP or equivalent) is an asset.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar privacy role.
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial privacy laws and guidelines in Canada, including Bill C-27, and OSFI’s B-13 and Third-Party Risk Management Guidelines.
  • Familiarity with privacy risk management and compliance, the ability to draft privacy related policies and procedures, and the competence to provide privacy related guidance where required.
  • Demonstrated strength in organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Legal and Regulatory Compliance Officer

As a Legal and Regulatory Compliance Officer, you will assist with legal and regulatory compliance matters for the Bank and subsidiaries. This is a permanent full-time position. We are open to hybrid or in-office at our head office in Saskatoon. This location is on First Nations land.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements of the Bank and subsidiaries. This includes, among others, requirements in the Bank Act, Trust and Loan Companies Act, Indian Act, PIPEDA, FATCA, CRS, CASL and OSFI and FCAC Guidelines.
  • providing legal opinion in areas such as, but not limited to, banking and regulatory law, tax law, contracts and leases, Indigenous law, wills and estates, employment law, privacy, debtor creditor and judgment enforcement.

What we’re looking for:

  • Lawyer with membership or eligibility for membership with the Law Society of Saskatchewan
  • Knowledge or experience with regulatory compliance and ability to read financial statements is a desirable asset
  • Experience in developing frameworks, policies and procedures
  • Competence in communicating with a diverse multitude of clients, staff and stakeholders
  • Aptitude to recognize and maintain confidentiality and discretion with sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team to achieve the goals and objective of the Bank
  • Experience working with Indigenous People and Communities and federal regulators is a desirable asset
  • Acceptable criminal record and credit checks

Head of Governance & Legal

Term Position to December 31, 2023

We are seeking a seasoned, knowledgeable and conscientious senior leader to join us on our multi-year enterprise-wide transformational journey. We are evolving into an effective & focused Central, ensuring the success and financial viability of credit unions. As a member of SaskCentral’s transformational team, you will manage the governance framework and serve as Corporate Secretary. You will also oversee the organization’s legal affairs and ensure its best interests are represented in the development and execution of corporate agreements. If you are innovative and passionate about governance, corporate law, and building strong relationships with boards, committees and regulators this is the position for you.

The Job
Reporting to the CEO, your responsibilities will include governance, legal and compliance roles. You will lead SaskCentral’s governance reform, ensuring the governance model and structure align to the future state business model. You will serve as Corporate Secretary to SaskCentral’s Board and board committees, ensuring adherence to board meeting protocols and governance practices. Legal oversight will include analysis and direction on legal issues related to service agreements, organizational regulation, and trademark protection. You will be accountable for the following roles, either directly or through delegation; Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and Chief Anti-Money Laundering Officer (CAMLO), where you will oversee regulatory and legislative compliance, including anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing monitoring, and management of reporting and compliance filings with the appropriate authorities. Similarly, accountable for the role of Chief Privacy Officer (CPO), you will protect the privacy of individual information in SaskCentral’s corporate and intellectual privacy, and oversee the corporate records management program.

The Candidate
You have a recognized governance designation, corporate secretary experience, a law degree and experience in the financial services sector. You have a strong understanding of corporate governance, and can read and interpret legislation and regulatory guidelines, communicating these concepts to stakeholders clearly and in terms easily understood. You have strong project management skills and can be relied on to manage multiple projects within tight timelines with a high degree of accountability. You’re a problem solver and can suggest innovative and creative solutions that are not readily apparent. You value building and maintaining positive relationships, and can negotiate specific outcomes and influence decision making. As a senior leader, you will contribute to the strategic vision and business plan, and provide leadership and mentorship to others in the organization.
