East Kootenay Community Credit Union was founded in 1950 with one branch in Cranbrook, B.C. With our dedication to serving the members within the communities we serve, we have grown to a network of 4 branches representing the communities of Cranbrook, Elkford, Sparwood & Fernie, B.C. in the picturesque East Kootenay region of south eastern British Columbia.

Since 1950, East Kootenay Community Credit Union (EKC) has helped our communities grow by understanding our East Kootenay economy and our passion for lifestyle. We are a financial institution, with a financial planning and insurance division, committed to making the communities we serve better places to live.

This commitment goes beyond the volunteer efforts of staff and the worthwhile endeavors we support in our communities. In fact, we take pride in demonstrating to our members that the same kind of caring and dedication that goes into what we do in the community also takes place at the branch level and is at the very heart of our relationship with the members we serve.

The City of Cranbrook, (population 20,000) is located in the south-east part of the Province of British Columbia, facing the west side of the Southern Canadian Rockies about 25 km (15 miles) away. In this respect it is often considered a major "Gateway to the Canadian Rocky Mountains."
