Network Administrator, Ladysmith & District Credit Union

Location:Ladysmith , British Columbia
Posting Date:March 6, 2018
Closing Date:until filled
Employment Type:Full-time

We are a unique, two-branch credit union helping people with their lives through financial services.

We are an employer that looks for motivated individuals who don’t want to be pigeon-holed, but rather enjoy a variety of tasks.  Because we are a town location station, we’ve got employees working in every area of financial services – all under one collective roof.  So moving up in the world doesn’t necessarily mean you will have to move from where you live when you want to try something new.  We promote from within.

Speaking of where we live – it is the best place on Vancouver Island (okay… maybe we are a little biased).  But imagine a quaint, ocean-front town nestled between the mountains, and yet still close to the major centers of Nanaimo and Victoria for more serious entertainment.  You can even enjoy the view of the ocean from our large roof-top balcony on your breaks.

At $170 million in assets, we are one of the smaller credit unions; however, our growth has increased over 45% in the last 4 years and is growing still.  So, no mergers for this credit union!  We’ve been in business for over 73 years and will continue to be a small but mighty force to reckon with.

With this growth, we are looking to expand our IT Services Division.  Our Manager of IT & Support Services will work with you to learn…. well, basically anything!  But he isn’t looking for just anybody.

The Network Administrator’s role is to ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer network. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, converting, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. The incumbent will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.

Other duties include strategic network design and capacity planning; developing, implementing and maintaining policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration and disaster recovery.

The ideal candidate will have a college diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 4-5 years equivalent work experience. A broad knowledge of IT applications, IP networking and routing, and data communications is required, including an ability to investigate user-needs with strong interpersonal skills.  Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Office, and Exchange applications is required and experience is preferred in these areas: .Net, JavaScript, HTML, VB, XML, Crystal Reporting; system internals of Microsoft Operating System, Linux; data communications including: TCP/IP; tools such as Microsoft Project, Putty; web services, SOAP, WDSL; database technologies such as Oracle, SQL Server.

This position is available immediately and will commence as soon as possible.  The salary will be commensurate with experience.  If you are interested in this opportunity, please submit a covering letter and resume outlining your qualifications to:
