Financial Planner

Since the Healthcare and Municipal Employees Credit Union (HMECU) inception in 1936, it has grown into a thriving financial institution with more than 11,000 members and over $200 million in assets on balance sheet and more than $70 million in mutual fund assets under administration. HMECU’s focus is to provide full financial services to the employees (and families) of healthcare and local government in the cities of Hamilton, Brantford and Burlington.

Summary

As an HMECU Financial Planner you will bring high energy and positive attitude to the team. You will be providing financial planning services to current and prospective members of HMECU.  You are accountable to develop, implement and market wealth management products and services to generate revenue, profitability, and grow the Credit Union’s mutual fund portfolio.

Essential Duties

· Prepare and present comprehensive financial plans based on a full needs analysis, offering financial solutions and recommendations for success.

· Develop, nurture and expand existing member relationships to uncover additional needs and business opportunities

· Understand the products and services that HMECU has to offer its members

· Responsible for actively promoting HMECU internally and externally with expectation of community involvement to establish a network.

· Be an active ambassador of HMECU.

· Provide quality financial plans and attain member confidence and trust by developing long-term member relationships.

· Identify and drive referrals to appropriate partners within the Credit Union.

· Implement action plans to promote growth in the wealth management area.

· Acts as a role model or coach for others to ensure positive results.

· Responsible to sell, cross-sell and up-sell all credit union products and services based on member identified needs.

· Draw on personal experience and knowledge to provide additional added value service by making recommendations for improvements to staff members for increasing member service

· Presenting informative educational seminars for members, both on site and at the offices of our employer groups.

Qualifications

· Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or Personal Financial Planner (PFP) designation required

· Completed CSC or IFIC Course

· Mutual funds accreditation and license required

· Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a financial advisory role

· Experience selling mutual funds, knowledge of different fund companies and products offerings an asset

Post-secondary education in business, marketing, finance, economics or equivalent experience required

· Branch Compliance Officer Course considered an asset

· Experience with financial planning and investment software is an asset, specifically Naviplan

· Strong business acumen and financial industry knowledge

· Excellent organizational and member service skills

· Team player

· Experience in delivering presentations to all audience sizes

· Flexible to work hours which may include evenings and weekends to accommodate member needs

· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
