Business Analyst, Osoyoos Credit Union

I. General Accountability and Purpose

Reporting to the General Manager (GM), the Business Analyst develops and maintains credit union reporting across various business areas and departments. The Business Analyst contributes to the credit union’s success by creating efficient reporting tools and processes in order to optimize operations, compiling and interpreting data in order to inform business decisions, and reviewing credit union processes with a goal of continuous improvement.  The Business Analyst demonstrates Osoyoos Credit Union’s values of integrity, professionalism, accountability and co-operation through their work and interactions with OCU employees, members and the community.

II. Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Financial Services Manager, the Business Analyst is accountable for:

A. Organizational Reporting

  • Working on a project basis, responds to the needs of the organization and develops organizational and departmental reporting tools and structures in order to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Works with members of the credit union management team to determine reporting needs in support of streamlining processes and delivering optimal member service
  • Develops and maintains reporting tools and methodologies for various business functions that enables automated population and capture of data
  • Acts as a subject matter expert and provider of Excel based efficiency tools for the credit union
  • Develops consistent branding for internal tools and reports
  • Documents and trains employees on credit union procedures for data collection and reporting
  • Collects and analyzes statistical data from various organizational reports and information sources in order to assist in decision making and planning
  • Prepares reports of findings, illustrating data graphically and translating complex findings into written text

B. Continuous Improvement

  • Reviews and analyzes organizational procedures and tools and makes recommendations for improvements in order to optimize member service delivery
  • Uses information captured in organizational reporting to identify trends in order to educate business decisions
  • Shares organizational data in meaningful way to assist credit union in identifying potential areas of opportunity
  • Assists in ensuring that Osoyoos Credit Union is well maintained and offers a welcoming member experience

C. Information Technology

  • Responsible for FiServ DNA banking system upgrade and testing.
  • Acts as a primary resource for ATM management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

III. Internal and External Contacts

The Business Analyst works closely with the credit union’s senior leadership team and demonstrates effective diplomacy and good judgment in all communications. The Business Analyst represents the credit union as appropriate in his/her relationships with members, suppliers and community groups.

IV. Qualifications

Education and experience: 

Post-secondary education in business or a related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough knowledge of Osoyoos Credit Union’s operations and processes and familiarity with the FiServ DNA banking system and conducting database queries. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products and experience with project management.
