We currently have an opportunity to hire an Assistant Manager in our South Slocan branch.  The Assistant Manager consistently develops leadership skills to position themselves for future succession and opportunities in any of our Kootenay Savings’ communities.   

We are looking for an incumbent who thinks strategically, who can plan for today and is also future focused.  The ideal incumbent is someone who is courageous and drives for results and success and who has a leadership presence that will influence, motivate and inspire our people. 

In addition to the development of others, the Assistant Manager is a key member of the branch management team, providing input and support for branch goals and being accountable for achieving the branch growth and administration plans.


The ideal incumbent will possess:

  • Diploma in Business Administration or Business Management

  • Successful completion of CUIC 240 – Fundamentals of Personal Financial Planning

  • Successful completion of CUIC 210 – Credit Union Consumer & Residential  Lending

  • Minimum of 3 years’ financial industry experience in positions of increasing responsibility

  • Advanced knowledge of personal and business lending and deposit policies, practices and procedures and general branch operations

  • Complete understanding of branch operations practices, policies and full range of KSCU products and services

  • Advanced knowledge and skills in sales techniques

  • Solid understanding of KSCU business practices and strategic objectives

  • Basic understanding of human resource policies and practices including planning, staffing, compensation, performance management

  • Understanding of the competitive environment in the financial marketplace and local communities within region  

  • Excellent planning and organizing skills

  • Strong sales and service understanding and results orientation

  • Strong ability to achieve sales and growth targets within a team environment

  • Strong leadership capabilities including teambuilding, coaching, delegating and conflict resolution

  • Advanced communication skills; proven ability to present ideas clearly, concisely and persuasively

  • Credibility, integrity, and ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information

  • Ability to adapt to changes in the external environment and the organization; understanding of change management principles and practices

  • Computer skills and ability to maximize efficiencies through technology
