Who We Are…

Since the Healthcare and Municipal Employees Credit Union (HMECU) inception in 1936, it has grown into a thriving financial institution with more than 12,000 members and over $200 million in assets. HMECU’s focus is to provide full financial services to the employees (and families) of healthcare and local government in the cities of Hamilton, Brantford and Burlington.

Who we are looking for…

HMECU is seeking a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).As the ideal candidate you will be a dynamic leader who excels at building teams and relationships and a culture of service excellence, innovation and agility to respond to a rapidly changing financial services landscape.  You have a passion for identifying potential and developing the capabilities of individuals, teams, and the organization overall. You must believe in creating a highly engaged work environment that supports the credit unions goals and values.  In addition, you will embrace innovation and support the 50 plus employees in implementing new initiatives and ideas that support the credit unions goals and values through effective and inclusive change management processes.

As the CEO you champion bringing the vision, mission, and values to life for both staff and members. Accountable to a highly engaged Board of Directors who are committed to governance best practices, the incumbent will helm the achievement of the newly developed strategic plan. Engaging your senior team as key contributors, you will lead HMECU’s success by ensuring measurable operational results in a fiscally responsible fashion.

You will effectively manage and direct the overall operations of three full service branches, four on-site branches and one administration/head office.  In addition to being accountable for the overall operations and financial management of the Credit Union you will excel as an effective and engaging leader that leverages the skills and talents of individual contributors and fosters team collaboration. 

What you will bring to us…

You bring a minimum 10 years of executive and strategic experience across a broad range of business functions, ideally within a credit union, cooperative environment, or a related field. Your ability to innovate and problem solve, to create continual process improvements and effective change management is coupled with proven values-based leadership skills and a sound understanding of the management of a financial institution.  These skills and experiences are complemented by a graduate level business degree or equivalent experience.
