Our Credit Union is actively seeking a Loans Officer to join our team. 

 

Position:

Reporting to the Manager of Lending, this position assumes primary responsibility in the delivery of lending services to credit union members.  The role will hold an assigned lending limit and apply sound judgement and compliance in the provision of loan activities.

The primary responsibilities will include:

  • Completing a variety of account transactions; conducting member interviews, identifying and understanding members financial needs, completing applications and approvals for mortgages, consumer and / or business and agricultural loans within an assigned lending limit.
  • Conducting credit investigations, security inspections and searches as required; prepares releases of security on paid out loans; interprets loan reports and identifies further action required to address problem areas (such as pending delinquency) in order to mitigate risk.
  • Providing individualized financial advice (such as debt consolidations) and information about credit union product and service offerings.
  • Applying compliance and adherence to all relevant legislation, regulations, by-laws, policies and procedures in the delivery of lending activities.
  • Proactively promoting the credit union brand, with the ability to effectively cross-sell lending and deposit products and services.
  • Actively participating in department and credit union meetings and taking personal initiative to work effectively and efficiently and support others to achieve credit union goals.

Qualifications:

  • One year of post-secondary education in a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of job-related experience (preferably in lending) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build trusting relationships with members and credit union staff
  • Ability to adapt, multi-task and effectively prioritize and strong time management skills
