Reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) is responsible for the risk management functions of the organization and will provide strategic direction and leadership in the development and implementation of an overall framework to effectively identify, analyze, manage and mitigate risks across the organization. Owing to a retirement, the CRO will be joining at a time of exciting innovation and transformation. They will be a part of the Executive Management team and will participate in the development of strategic planning and the design and development of policies and programs for a highly engaged workforce with an excellent work culture. 

 

As the Chief Risk Officer you will:

· Oversee and lead the ongoing development and deployment of Risk Management frameworks, tools, practices and policies to analyze and effectively manage risk

· Ensure an integrated approach to retail credit processes, provide leadership and direction to the retail credit support teams including Credit Adjudication, Centralized Loan Processing, Loan Audit and Recovery 

· Oversee direction and strategies of Commercial Credit Risk Management and Commercial Credit Administration, liaising with Central’s Credit Committee where necessary

· Provide leadership and direction to the Chief Anti-Money Laundering Officer (CAMLO) ensuring ongoing compliance with all legislative requirements.

· Continue the development and deployment of an integrated Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program

· Ensure organizational commitment to privacy compliance

· Manage relationships with insurers including CUMIS, CMHC, etc.

 

To be successful in this role you will:

· Have completed post-secondary education in business

· Have a minimum of 10 years related experience, with 5 years in a senior management capacity, in particular:

o Extensive credit risk experience, with a deep understanding of the core risk determinants, analyzing and assessing commercial credit transactions

o Experience in credit risk analysis of retail lending

o Proven financial analysis and loan underwriting skills

o Experience managing corporate risk through an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework

· Are a strong mentor and leader who promotes a highly accountable team that works towards productive goals and achievements

· Believe in building strong working relationships with partners, internal and external stakeholders and prefer a collaborative and team oriented culture

· Are results oriented and hold yourself and your team accountable
