Bow Valley Credit Union is seeking an experienced Executive Assistant (EA) to join our Administrative and Executive Team located in our Administrative Office in Cochrane, Alberta.


Under direction of the President & Chief Executive Officer, assist with the administration and coordination of credit union operations and overall aspects of the corporate business plans. The individual shall ensure compliance with board governance, sound business practices, legislation, regulation, by-laws and management of policies and procedures.


  • Grade 12 diploma plus two years of post-secondary education or minimum 5 years or more of job related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Possess strong communication, written and verbal skills; thorough and detailed work, with ability to provide administrative support to the President & CEO, and Board of Directors, specifically with regards to strategic planning initiatives, business planning, budgeting, incentive programs, marketing activities and special projects as required;
  • Proven to be a trusted and reliable resource as carried out to the Board of Directors and Committees by attending meetings, recording and transcribing minutes, preparing reports, compiling information and ensuring effective distribution of information to its pertinent sources;
  • A good understanding of the Credit Union System in Canada and knowledge of the financial institutions organization, services, and products offered;
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of credit union legislation as it pertains to governance, and board of directors;
  • Effectively utilizes technical applications including Windows, SharePoint, Microsoft Office programs and E-Mail;
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive information and uphold confidentiality; sustain honesty and trust with direct reports while motivating and influencing those on the team;
  • Flexibility to work outside regular office hours during unusual circumstances which would include Board and Committee meetings and the Annual General Meeting of the Members;
  • Occasional travel maybe required, attending branch locations, credit union related meetings or events, and training opportunities based on position requirements;
  • Actively involved in the community of Cochrane and surrounding area;
  • Willingness to learn and take necessary courses required to improve and maintain up to date knowledge as required for the position;
  • Ability to manage change, and positively manages conflict, supporting those on the team to resolve differences;
