The Opportunity:  Controller (Cranbrook, BC)

As the leader of our Accounting Team within the Finance Department, you’ll oversee the execution of organization-wide accounting functions to ensure adherence to international financial reporting standards to maintain the integrity of financial information used by executive management and the Board in setting the strategic direction of the credit union and subsidiaries. In this role, you’ll also oversee the production of monthly financial statements, and conduct ongoing reviews of accounting processes to ensure the application of appropriate financial controls. You’ll provide supervision and leadership to small team of accounting administrators. In consultation with the CFO, you’ll administer the credit union’s investment portfolio to maximize potential of funds on deposit with Central 1 and support the CFO in the preparation of the credit union and subsidiary annual operating and capital budgets, and in pricing products and services.

About You:

You have:

· A CPA designation or will complete CPA designation within 12 months

· Completion of formal education in supervisory skills

· A minimum of 4-5  years of experience in a variety of accounting and administration roles, preferably within a credit union or financial institution environment, including at least 1 year at a supervisory level

· Working knowledge of the full range of accounting practices and procedures within a business environment

· Working knowledge of supervisory skills such as scheduling and work assignment, recruitment and performance management

· Ability to provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to an assigned team, and to motivate continuous learning and performance development in others

· Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
