The successful individual will be a key member of the Executive Leadership team and will oversee the full lending portfolio, ensure profitability and achieve corporate goals.  You will also be managing a team of employee’s and will be dedicated to providing a coaching environment.  You must have experience in small business, retail, commercial and agricultural lending. 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and support all activities that support the organizations risk plans
  • Develop and ensure controls are in place to identify the risk within the portfolio and initiate action to mitigate potential losses
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and sound business practices
  • Responsible for the overall adjudication, collections and risk analysis 
  • Participate in corporate strategy development
  • Work together with the executive team to set annual budgets
  • Actively participate in meeting, planning and training initiatives
  • Recommend changes to policies and procedures that support the organizational objectives
  • Align targets, pricing and rates to support delivery of innovative products and services to improve the financial well being of members
  • Accountable for the implementation of pricing guidelines on all credit products and ensure pricing is adjusted for risk
  • Guide, coach and motivate a team of employees to deliver tailored financial solutions to all members
  • Report key risk indicators and convey emerging risk indicators
  • Oversee collection to ensure that wrongdoings are being monitored and followed up
  • Manage and participate in high impact projects related to credit risk policy and portfolio management
  • Maintain industry knowledge and trends, along with keeping up to date with competitor products
  • Prepares financial and operational reports
  • Promote the corporate social responsibility and commitment to the community
  • Develop strong relationships with external partners and vendors
  • Evaluate performance management of employees to identify training and development needs 
  • Other duties as required

Specific Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or a related discipline
  • 10+ years of job related experience in the financial services industry
  • Completion of CUIC Business Lender Accreditation or equivalent Business Lending program
  • Participation in the Credit Union Lending Network is a requirement
  • Expertise in lending, relationship management and senior leadership
  • Must have Credit Adjudication experience
  • Extremely strong communication skills with the ability to motivate others
  • Ability to lead by example in a fast paced environment
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and a strong desire to grow
  • A community-minded mentality and the ability to get involved in local events and groups
