We are excited to welcome a new member to our team! VPCU is a Closed Bond credit union serving those who serve....Vancouver Police, BC Municipal Police, RCMP, BC Transit Police. We operate in 2 locations with easy transit access to our main office on Victoria Drive where our new team member will work out of.

This is a maternity leave contract for 15 months to a possible 21 months. The Member Service Representative supports the corporate vision of sales & service excellence by greeting members, pro-actively determining & fulfilling their basic needs and creating opportunity to refer/cross-sell additional financial products and services. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Foster business development through service excellence and product knowledge; act as point of first contact for members.

· Process member transactions: deposits, withdrawals, managers’ cheques, money transfers. Calculate foreign and domestic exchange, cash cheques, and open/close personal accounts and print statements. Recognize member needs and promote lending, deposit services, and other services and refer more complex requests to respective staff colleagues.

· Respond to member emails and Member Direct requests. Answer phone inquiries. Direct to appropriate staff member as required.

·Maintain records of cash holdings. Process and balance files. Balance daily outgoing cheques, transactions, and cash 

· Process RRSPs,Term Deposits and other investment products not requiring a mutual funds license

Education

· High school diploma/Grade 12, preferably with post-secondary courses in business or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

· 1 – 2 year’s job related experience in a service-oriented environment, including experience as a teller or cashier.

· Proven sales and service ability.

· Quality/Accuracy/Detail Driven.

· Demonstration of professionalism- tact and courtesy.

· Strong communication skills.

· Strong team player.

· Computer literate.

· Willingness to learn new job duties to support the department during times of vacations and other absences.
