The Opportunity: Chief Executive Officer

Under general direction of the Board of Directors, the CEO has responsibility for providing strategic leadership to the credit union, Board, and executive management team to establish, implement and oversee the credit union’s goals, strategies, plans, and policies, while ensuring the institution’s financial strength, viability, and continued responsiveness to member needs.  With overall management accountability for all credit union operations, the CEO will oversee business strategy in accordance with the vision, mission, and values of Lake View Credit Union, and will pursue operational excellence by providing overall leadership and guidance in the refinement of client and member solutions to provide better products and services for the benefit of the credit union’s membership.

The CEO adds value through their capacity to lead people and work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to evolve the credit union’s vision and strategy.  Furthermore, s/he will lead change at Lake View and generate growth through excellence in service, innovative products, and effective community engagement.  The CEO’s personal leadership will demonstrate Lake View’s vision and commitment to co-operative and sustainable principles.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Degree in Business Administration or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of experience and training;
  • Several years of progressive experience in a senior executive capacity in the financial services industry and in a local market-leading organization; leadership experience in a credit union, or within the cooperative system, is preferred;
  • Proven leader, with an ability to synthesize and communicate a vision developed through consultative processes;
  • Proven ability to understand, reinforce, adjust, and support a culture that reflects credit union values;
  • Has led significant change to meet business goals;
  • Has shown the ability to lead a team or organization to achieve high staff productivity; experience leading an organized work force is an asset;
  • Able to manage multiple and competing stakeholder relationships; has stewarded an effective working relationship with an elected Board of Directors;
  • Well experienced in leading a broad range of business lines, managing competing interests, priorities, and trade-offs to optimize the needs of the business; experienced in facilitating a framework for collaborative leadership;
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills;
  • Able to make challenging decisions respectfully and effectively; and
  • Communicates effectively, both in writing and in oral presentations; skilled at communicating with a broad range of audiences.
