Regional Wealth Team Leader, CUSO Wealth Strategies Inc.

Under the guidance of the CUSO, VP Business Development the Regional Wealth Team Leader confidently supports and provides wealth management guidance and expertise to assigned credit unions, with their day-to-day wealth operations and in coaching team members to successful performance.

Leadership qualities prevail in this position with an ongoing focus of developing technical and soft skills that enable and encourage the optimum performance of both the individual contributors and team.


  • Work with the credit union executive operator to help create a culture that is results focused and team oriented.
  • Help to foster a high achieving and engaged sales team.
  • Carry out and attain the mission and the goals of the business unit.
  • Personal ongoing self-development and personal growth as an employee.


Coaching & Leadership

  • Coach, mentor and develop staff, including oversight of new employee onboarding and coaching to career development planning and opportunities.
  • Lead employees by using an effective performance management and development process that provides an overall context and framework to encourage employee contribution and includes goal setting, feedback, and performance development planning.
  • Empower employees to take responsibility for their roles and meet the expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment.
  • Consciously support a workplace culture that is consistent with the overall organizations’ and foster a spirit of collaboration, trust while recognizing achievements
  • Communicate regularly with other managers, staff, internal team leads and designated contacts within the organizations and strategic partnership network.

Operational Management

  • Provide guidance and direction to employees in the operating unit in accordance with wealth management and dealer policies and procedures.
  • Support the evaluation and improvement of the efficiency of systems and business processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output.
  • Review performance data that includes financial, sales and activity reports to monitor and measure individual and departmental productivity, goal achievement, and overall effectiveness. When needed, prepare reports on operational and strategic goal accomplishment
  • Manage the overall operational activities of the team, maintaining relevant controls and make business decisions that are financially responsible and accountable with organization policies and procedures.
  • Support other CUSO or partnership activities when needed.

Requirements for the Role

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and motivate a team of employees. 
  • Experience and knowledge with wealth management operations, key tools, strategies and resources.
  • Ability to serve as a knowledgeable resource to the organization's management team that provides leadership and direction.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Evidence of the ability to practice a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication, organization and relevant computer program skills.
  • Travel to the CUSO office and credit union partner locations is required

Education and Experience

· Minimum five years applied Financial Planning or related experience

· Completion or willingness to complete the CFP designation and must have completed the IFIC mutual fund course and       CSC and LLQP programs of study.

  • Direct or indirect leadership experience for a minimum of three years is preferred.
  • Combined experience and post-secondary education in the areas directly related to financial services business will be considered.
