Credit Union Engagement Specialist – PPJV – 12 Month Term

About PPJV

In response to the rapidly changing payments landscape and the multiyear Payments Canada modernization initiative, the Centrals of Alberta, Manitoba (CUCM) and Saskatchewan formed a joint venture known as PPJV on behalf of all prairie credit unions. PPJV resources are in year two of a multi-year project to move to a payments as a service model with IBM. They are also intent upon streamlining the payments functions between the three Centrals.

The Position::

This position is responsible to support Engagement and Communication Workstreams with credit union communication and relationships across PPJV payment streams which include DIP, AFT, Wires, GUI, Cheques, Bill Pay, Tax Pay, Leadfi and Etransfer.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement onboarding activities to ensure business readiness including onboarding readiness sessions, readiness checklist sessions and the creation of readiness checklists and Quick Reference Guides.
  • Manage the cadence for interactions with cohorts for designated products including tracking and communicating potential issues/risks, supporting timely business and tactical messaging for credit unions to stay abreast of product progress, providing demos and product readiness timelines.
  • Develop and maintain access to product documentation on Teams including onboarding documentation for credit unions, product workshops and information session recordings, key messages and credit union impact documents.
  • Act as key contact point for interaction between credit unions, integration partners and PPJV team members for designated products. Respond to credit union enquiries, liasing with other internal resources as needed.
  • Support maintenance of credit union data spreadsheets and product statistics.

Position Requirements

  • High School diploma complemented by a 2 year diploma/or additional courses in related areas.
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in a credit union or other financial services entity.
  • Member/Customer service and account management experience including issue resolution.
  • “Back office” experience with various payment streams.
  • Strong technology skills including use of full Microsoft Office suite and online communication tools, coupled with proven planning and organizing competencies.
  • Training, coaching and facilitation experience, the ability to craft clear communications and basic project management skills will differentiate the top candidates from others.
  • Ingenuity, discretion and judgement coupled with proven ability to work independently and on teams are necessary for success in this role.

Work Environment:

  • PPJV is a fast paced and focused environment where employees and contractors share the mission to deliver efficient, cost effective, modernized payments processing to prairie credit unions.
  • This position is currently designated as a work from home position, but may eventually be involved in limited business travel. Ideally, candidates will be located in our customer areas of Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba.

The Position:

Reporting to management, the incumbent’s primary duties will include: performing and maintaining accurate and secure record keeping of member accounts, Credit Union accounts and general ledgers, with particular attention to the accounting and electronic data access and storage of the credit union business. Qualifications:

The ideal incumbent will have as a minimum:

    • Post-secondary education in accounting or an accounting diploma,

    • 3 years of experience in a Credit Union accounting environment;

Who are we?

Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation (the Corporation) is the deposit guarantor for Saskatchewan credit unions and the primary regulator for Saskatchewan credit unions and SaskCentral. We work closely with these institutions to ensure they employ sound business practices to enhance the strength and stability of the Saskatchewan credit union system.

How you will spend your time:

Reporting to the Vice-President, Regulatory Oversight, this position oversees the department responsible for the development and implementation of regulatory policy, preventive initiatives, and oversight of the deposit guarantee fund.

You will:

  • Oversee regulatory policy to ensure an effective and responsible framework for the regulation of Saskatchewan credit unions and SaskCentral, together Provincially Regulated Financial Institutions (PRFIs), is applied
  • Develop and recommend board policies, strategic initiatives, and planning, budgeting and allocating resources for departmental activities to achieve business plans
  • Guide the development, recommendation and implementation of policies for the deposit guarantee fund, including fund target and assessment policies
  • Collaborate with all other senior management positions to ensure that corporate efforts are aligned and plans are achievable. 

What you’ll need:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or business supplemented with a graduate degree or designation in accounting/finance
  • Five years progressive leadership experience
  • Advanced knowledge of the financial services industry including international best practices in financial services regulation
