What You’ll Do

Under the leadership of the Vice President, Commercial and Retail Credit (VPCRC), the Senior Manager Commercial Services (SMCS) enriches member’s lives by leading the activities of the commercial services lending unit. This position develops and supports business goals aligned to the Sunshine Coast Credit Union’s (SCCU’s) business strategies and manages a commercial team focused on the growth and development of profitable relationships with current and prospective commercial members.

 

The SMCS manages a select commercial portfolio of member accounts considered to be of high profile, complexity and of significant value to SCCU. This position sells and negotiates business-banking services to members and potential members and manages the assigned loan portfolio by ensuring all products provided are in compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures. The SMCS proactively identifies and pursues new sources of business and refers that business to SCCU’s business partners.

 

What Does the Ideal Candidate Bring?

In addition to post-secondary education in accounting, finance, commerce, or business administration, we are looking for an individual with a minimum of 7 years’ progressive experience in sales/service and managing a diverse portfolio in a commercial banking environment, including 3 years of management experience.  The preferred candidate will have a demonstrated ability to analyze financial statements and understand aspects of lending, market analysis/industry trends, and cash management, in addition to strong knowledge of segment strategies, structure, lending and deposit products and services.  Advanced credit and interviewing techniques, credit investigation and underwriting skills are also required.  The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, relationship, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.  The successful incumbent will have an ability to influence and interact with any level within the organization in addition to demonstrated strong business acumen.  An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered as well as other relevant working experience.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, thorough, and well-organized to ensure sound decision-making in the analysis and recommendation of Dealer Finance credit. Reporting to the Vice President Credit, the Dealer Finance Relationship Manager will assist in overseeing the Dealer Finance loan portfolio while building positive relationships with customers and providing exceptional service as a first point of contact.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing the Dealer Finance loan portfolio and in achieving loan growth targets as set out by corporate strategy
  • Build and foster strong relationships with the dealer partners to ensure ongoing growth
  • Work collaboratively with dealerships and customers to make recommendations of credit and appropriate solutions, based on the customer needs
  • Complete financial analysis (commercial, agriculture, and consumer) for vehicle loans
  • Maintain open, two-way communication with internal stakeholders to determine the best solution for the customer
  • Identify problem accounts and work with customers to find an appropriate solution
  • Perform collections on all defaulted accounts, in accordance with corporate policies and procedures
  • Flexible work hours are required, including rotational coverage for Saturdays

Qualifications:

  • Lending experience in consumer, commercial, and agriculture preferred, but will consider education and/or a combination of education and experience
  • Experience interpreting financial statements
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize work requirements to meet deadlines and work within time constraints
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with an aptitude for relationship-building
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Lending Services Officer

THE POSITION:

 

Due to a recent opening in our lending department, North Valley Credit Union is seeking the services of a qualified Loans Officer. The successful candidate will report directly to the Loans Manager.  Responsibilities will include duties typically associated with the lending function such as interviewing members, monitoring portfolio performance and focusing on growth opportunities. While we seek an individual with prior experience in the lending area, we are prepared to train the skills necessary to fulfill the position responsibilities. This position will provide the opportunity for the successful applicant to gain exposure to various types of lending.   This position is available immediately and the job posting will remain open until filled.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Minimum grade 12 diploma supplemented by direct lending training and experience
  • Consideration given to those individuals with loan security clerk abilities and seeking to advance their career
  • A record of completing both formal and informal training and self-development courses
  • Strong business development and relationship management skills
  • Proven ability in portfolio management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must
  • Willingness to engage in all types of lending
  • A working knowledge of syndicated loans and lease adjudication will be an asset but this can be learned over time.

The level of compensation provided will depend upon qualifications and experience. We offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation package, which includes an 8% matched defined contribution pension plan as administered by the Co-operative Superannuation Society.  This position will also qualify for participation in a very generous, un-capped variable pay-profit sharing program that is industry leading within the credit union system of Saskatchewan.  A full range of employee benefits are provided including medical, dental, life insurance and more. North Valley Credit Union is a single branch operation located in the Town of Esterhazy. Total assets under administration are approaching $ 128 million. THE COMMUNITY:

 

Esterhazy is located north of the Qu’Appelle valley, 73 km from the Manitoba border and 90 km southeast of Yorkton. It has a population of approximately 2,800 and is a full service community.
