Certifications:

Must be a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Qualified Associate Financial Planner (QAFP™), or Personal Financial Planner (PFP®). MFDA licensure or eligibility is required.

Education:

A diploma/degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field is highly advantageous.

Position Overview:

The individual in this position is passionate about connecting with people, building trust and providing a level of expertise that is unmatched in the industry. Internally the MSOW2 works in close collaboration with the retail branch network and commercial division to establish trusted internal relationships and raise the awareness and knowledge level of YCU’s employees with respect to wealth management products, services, and strategies — leading to a steady stream of customer referrals.  Externally, the MSOW2 will have an active community presence, helping build YCU’s profile in the community as a professional and preferred provider of wealth management products, services, and expertise — leading to new wealth management customers and banking relationships.

Job Specifications:

  • MFDA license required.
  • Personal Financial Planner (PFP designation;) required. Incumbent will be a licensed PFP.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in financial planning/investment sales with the ability to prepare written financial plans in accordance with the six-step financial planning process;
  • Superior knowledge of the investment industry and products;
  • Comfortable with industry standard financial planning tools/software;
  • Post-secondary diploma/degree, ideally in Commerce or Business Administration would be an asset
  • Must be able to work well with a minimum of supervision and able to organize and effectively manage priorities and deadlines.
  • Able to understand and utilize procedures/work tools that are necessary for general security and risk management for YCU.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Sales & Service

Analytical skills that take into account the big picture of our members’ whole wealth portfolio, when to refer, when to amalgamate the portfolio.

  • Business development activities through outbound calls, networking and other sales opportunities.
  • Build Member Relationships and is Member Focused. Creates and establishes trust by building relationships and actively discovers the right investment solutions for Members.
  • Decision Quality – Understands the Member’s best interest is first; understands that this may not always be the same as what the members ask for; demonstrates decisions which are based on creating the best possible outcome for the member; makes decisions based on a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment.
  • Creates well founded and rounded financial wellness plans for existing, and new, members
  • Ensures KYCs are conducted in accordance with regulations and thus ensuring that members receive outstanding care. This could include moving from named products to nominee shelf items and amalgamating portfolios.
  • Analyzes, and learns from redemptions that occur to reduce future losses and improve net sales.
  • Exceeds standards for member loyalty, observations, development plan action items, and one on one coaching sessions.
  • Builds rapport, ask questions to uncover needs, research details available, to help recommend solutions, educate our members about our convenient service options and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Converts all points of contact into relationship banking. Uses CRM to prompt member milestones, new baby, new car, university education etc

Purpose of Position

Retirement and Pension Associate (RP-Associate)

Company Description:

Pioneered in 1939, the Co-operative Superannuation Society (CSS), located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, provides pension and retirement services to its membership. The CSS is the Administrator of the CSS Pension Plan, one of the oldest and largest defined contribution pension plans in Canada. With approx. $5 billion in assets, CSS Pension Plan has grown to serve over 300 employers and 55,000 current and past co-operative and credit union employees across Canada, including more than 8,200 retirees (receiving variable benefit payments and/or a monthly pension).

Summary:

We have had an internal promotion and are now seeking to fill the position of Retirement and Pension Associate! Join the CSS Pension Plan and its Member Experience Department as a Retirement and Pension Associate. You will care for our employer and employee members’ journeys by:

  • Providing senior administrative leadership and support for our pension and retirement planning professionals,
  • Taking responsibility for a wide range of pension and retirement activities (e.g., from pension and retirement administration to meeting with members to assisting with virtual and in-person educational and engagement events),
  • Analyzing detailed financial and membership information to identify opportunities for improvements in the overall member experience and journey with the CSS Pension Plan and
  • Assisting the Director, Member Experience with regular budget and operational planning needs.

Key Responsibilities

Provide and Support the Delivery of Pension and Retirement Information

  • Answers inquiries and provides information through various communication channels regarding CSS Pension Plan provisions.
  • Meets with members on an individual basis to explain the retirement income options they are entitled to; engages the senior pension and retirement planning professionals as appropriate given the member’s needs and objectives.
  • Extracts and gathers the pertinent information needed to 1) determine the member’s eligibility for the various retirement income options and other rights and entitlements; and 2) support our pension and retirement planning services.
  • Supports the pension and retirement planning professionals by 1) ensuring that all required information is provided to and received by members, 2) assisting members with their pension plan inquiries, 3) forwarding complex inquiries to the appropriate professionals or specialists, and 4) preparing, reviewing and submitting complete retirement income application packages to our member account specialists for processing.
  • Establishes a positive mutual relationship between themselves, the pension and retirement planning professionals and the members.
  • Assists with the development and continuous improvement efforts of our educational and engagement workshops, seminars, and courses.

  • Generates and analyzes reports and information from our information systems and identifies opportunities to support and enhance the member experience.
  • Performs user testing for technological assets to ensure operational and strategic needs and goals are met.
  • Assist with projects (e.g., information technology, member experience, member education and member engagement).

We are seeking a Manager, Client Experience – Private Wealth Group to oversee the administrative support function of our Private Wealth Group Department and provide regional leadership to the team of Client Relations Assistants. What’s the role?

As Manager, Client Experience – Private Wealth Group you are responsible to provide leadership, direction, and coaching to Client Relations Assistant Team and oversee the administrative support function for the Private Wealth Group department. This position also leads and oversees the monitoring of auditing and compliance of licensing requirements of the greater PWG advisory team while providing guidance, mentorship and support in the processing of complex client files. The Manager, Client Experience – Private Wealth Group  is responsible to manage and direct the department functions within established policies and procedures and is accountable for growth by developing a strong team to support services ensuring a high level of operational effectiveness. This role also plays a pivotal role in the oversight, coordination and support of PWG marketing and sponsored community events. As a key member of the Private Wealth Group Management team, you will  have a responsibility to the goals of the department through effective expense processing and administration.

This role is based in Central Vancouver Island with travel required to all Coastal Community locations and offers flexibility for a hybrid remote/office work environment.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in a related discipline (e.g. Commerce and Business Administration) requiring 3 – 4 years of full-time study or equivalent.
  • Minimum six (6) years’ experience as an Investment Advisor or equivalent role.
  • Hold an IIROC license as a Registered Representative in the Province of BC.
  • Hold a Life, Disability and Health Insurance license in the Province of BC required within 12 months of commencement of the position
  • Minimum (8) years progressive financial industry experience considered an asset

Ideally, you are a flexible, collaborative team player with:

  • Proven knowledge of wealth management policies, procedures, practices and general branch operations.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the investment platform.
  • Solid understanding of the competitive environment in the financial marketplace, and local communities within the region.
  • Previous experience leading a team considered an asset

The Investment Advisor supports Interior Savings’ vision of sales & service excellence by developing valuable long-term relationships with members, pro-actively determining & fulfilling their investment needs and providing them sound advice with high-quality, tailored financial solutions to match their financial goals.

Through personal strengths in communication, sales leadership, and initiative you will achieve client’s financial sales goals through a focus on medium to high net-worth investors seeking diverse investment solutions. You will pro-actively manage client relationships, pursue internal opportunities/referrals, and external business growth opportunities.

With proven sales and service ability and the ability to meet and exceed goals and objectives you will identify cross-selling and referral opportunities to other Interior Savings partners, achieve referral objectives, develop external leads, and build referral relationships within the community. You will work as a team member with licensed branch staff to ensure that all member needs are met in a timely, cost effective manner and assist in the education of branch staff regarding Credit Union services and products to pro-actively grow the business. You will also perform other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for….

Education

  • High School diploma/Grade 12 plus two (2) years of formal post-secondary education or equivalent
  • Possess or be willing to work towards the CFP (Certified Financial Planner designation) or PFP designation
  • Canadian Securities course and Conduct & Practices Handbook
  • Must be IIROC licensed

Experience/Knowledge

  • 4-6 years of job related experience in a financial sales & services environment
  • Good knowledge of current domestic and international investment marketplace
  • Good comprehension of all insurance products
  • Knowledge of RRSPs, RRIFs, RESPs, mutual funds, and self-directed plan administration
