What’s the Opportunity?

The Vice President, People and Culture reports directly to the CEO, and is responsible for leading the organizational development that supports the growth of both employees and the Credit Union by instilling and supporting a strong employee development and engagement culture.

They develop and implement the Credit Union’s people strategy and develop, source and implement the appropriate systems and learning programs in support of the strategy and culture. Additionally, this position leads the development and implementation of HR strategy, HR policies, practices and programs for employment, recruitment, compensation, benefits, employee development and employee profitability. They define and collect key performance metrics and data.

The VP, People and Culture ensures compliance with labour laws and regulations and acts as the key point of contact with government and other regulatory agencies. They actively participate at the senior management level and board level in the development and implementation of long-term strategic plans.

Employee Development
• Conduct organizational needs assessments to establish programming in conjunction with annual planning and budgets
• Design, develop and deliver programs based on generally accepted principles of adult learning, or recommend the selection of external training consultants as needed
• Provide coaching and post training support to ensure successful transfer of learning to the workplace
• Develop and implement measurement tools and processes ensuring participant and organizational feedback is documented and evaluated
• Identify and address learning gaps and develop strategies for correcting these gaps
• Assist employees in identifying career paths, establishing learning plans and activities required for achieving personal success and continued professional development
• Ensure arrangements are made for training schedules, facilities, trainers, participants, equipment and course materials
• Actively network with others in the credit union system and outside of the system to build relationships, gain new skills and improve brand recognition
Strategic Human Resources
• Ensure all Human Resources policies, programs and practices are in compliance with applicable labour legislation
• Oversee the development and administration of benefits programs, compensation structures as well as compliance and reporting functions
• Provide strategic leadership and consulting support to management for setting goals, policy development, staff allocation and management to ensure business goals are met
• Recommend and maintain an organizational structure and staffing levels to accomplish company goals and objectives
• Assess company culture and employee morale and provide recommendations on changes to accomplish company goals and objectives
• Assess and make recommendations for outsourced HR services
• Ensure confidentiality of employee files, all salary information, disability information, personal issues, terminations, recruitment information, and health benefit data
• Sustain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, seminars, associations, research and professional publications
• Oversee the Human Resources department and staff

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Human Resource Management or work equivalency and C.P.H.R. designation
• A certificate in adult education or equivalent
• Demonstrated ability to manage HR strategy, leadership and organizational development, contracts, negotiations, and change
• Demonstrated knowledge of applicable employment, wage and salary laws and regulations and ability to interpret and comply with those able to analyze and assess training and development needs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
• Politically and culturally sensitive
• Sound leadership, staff management, and teambuilding skills
• Competent and current computer skills (Word, Excel, Web browsers, email, etc.)
• Superior interpersonal skills in dealing with direct and non-direct reports/Credit Union leadership/Board
• Proven relationship management and presentation skills
• Demonstrated project management skills

  • Perform an end-to-end assessment of Synergy’s learning programs and identify opportunities throughout to ensure a well-rounded talent pipeline and exceptional employee experience.
  • Oversee the delivery of ongoing and routine programming, such as products and services training.
  • Participate in project intake and discovery processes when a learning or training component is identified to help determine priorities and support the change management a project will typically require.
  • Research and monitor key talent and change management trends, providing analysis and recommendations to ensure continuous and responsive improvements.
  • Develop and utilize reports and analytics to measure effectiveness of learning and development efforts. Demonstrate alignment to or capture misalignment to organizational goals.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal training content developers and leaders to deliver effective programming across the entire organization.
  • Monitor budget and resources to ensure we have the money, time, and climate for maximum effectiveness.
  • Develop content or oversee the development of content, including sustainment activities.
  • Manage the deployment of platforms and courses, including vendor management.

What you will need for this role:

  • A degree or diploma in adult learning, instructional design, or related field (Master’s is an asset).
  • At least seven years of experience highlighting a combination of strategy planning, program management, instructional design, facilitation, and reporting. Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of change management. Education in this area is an asset.
  • Desire to contribute progressive workplace thought leadership and learning culture.
  • Experience with sales environment is an asset, as is experience in financial services.
  • Tech savviness and a love for technology.
  • Outstanding communication skills paired with thoughtful design and delivery of messages.
  • Ability to hold accountability of internal and external partners.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager Commercial Adjudication to join our team. The position is based out of Trail, BC however we are open to consider remote work options for the right candidate.

As Senior Manager Commercial Adjudication you are responsible for the operational control of the credit union’s commercial lending portfolio, commercial adjudication and retail & commercial administration in a manner that supports operational efficiency and ensures compliance with regulatory and organizational practices, policies & procedures, and risk framework.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Being accountable for the planning, development, and implementation of policies, programs and strategies in support of commercial lending functions and credit support lending administration
  • Providing operational oversight of compliance with enterprise risk management (ERM) policies and practices and maintenance of lending operations, risk, and administrative practices, policies, and procedures
  • Providing managerial and administrative control of the commercial lending portfolio, adjudication and retail and commercial credit support administration
  • Being accountable for providing managerial direction and leadership to the centralized management team to achieve established organizational performance goals
  • Being accountable for operational oversight of commercial annual reviews and renewals of credit facilities in the commercial credit portfolio
  • Providing managerial oversight of the commercial credit collection function and having accountability for identifying areas of potential risk and initiating actions to mitigate potential losses within established controls
  • Commonly acting as a project lead, as well as supporting the execution of a variety of cross-functional strategic projects

The ideal incumbent will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or designation requiring 3 to 4 years’ full-time study or equivalent
  • A minimum of 10 years’ progressive leadership experience in the financial services industry with a focus on commercial credit execution, oversight, adjudication, underwriting and credit design
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial credit underwriting policies and procedures
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in managing commercial credit including underwriting, portfolio quality oversight and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Strong knowledge in credit risk management policies and procedures and regulatory requirements relative to credit union credit risk management
  • Strong knowledge of credit management information reporting infrastructure to further enable overall credit portfolio management
  • Strong experience in policy and procedure administration, internal controls and auditing systems
  • Strong understanding of consumer and commercial deposit and lending practices, collection techniques and legislative regulations and statutes as they pertain to consumer and business deposit and lending activities
  • Strong knowledge of information technology best practices and the ability to keep abreast of new technologies
  • Knowledge of and commitment to maintaining current knowledge of legislative requirements, best practices, local community and financial industry trends and forecasts as they related to the functional areas of the position
  • Strong project management and planning skills

Position Summary:

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Vice-President, Member Experience is responsible for providing executive-level strategic leadership and direction, as well as being accountable for development and prudent management of the credit union’s lending portfolio. The incumbent plans, directs and controls the lending activities including account administration, credit extension, and business development functions in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes and directs the asset quality control including, but not limited to, Line of Credit limits; delinquency control; loan loss exposure reduction procedures, and transactional and 3rd party risk. Oversees the completion of credit related reports and ensures quality of applications and documentation.
  • Supervises and coordinates the work of the Regional Manager, Member Experience; Manager, Credit Risk; the Senior Commercial Relationship Manager, and the Marketing Manager. Responsibilities include strategic planning, assigning, and directing work; providing ongoing coaching to reinforce positive behaviours and address performance issues as they arise; conducting performance reviews; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Recommends various personnel actions including, but not limited to, rewarding, promoting, re-assigning, discipline or termination.
  • Develops, recommends, implements, and monitors loan approval procedures including approval of loans, mortgages, and credit lines; establishment of approval limits for lending personnel; reviewing approved loans for quality and adherence to policy; addressing areas of concern; taking corrective action on potentially deteriorating situations.
  • Supervises the activities of the commercial lending function including mentoring senior staff, providing guidance on complex files and key relationships, and engaging with AC Lending Services and CUDIC when necessary. Periodically reviews approved/advanced loans to ensure risk and pricing are appropriate and that adequate security is place and is properly registered and documented
  • Coordinates the creation and implementation of Branch Business Plans. Monitors branch progress against established objectives. Provides ongoing feedback, recommendations, recognition as appropriate and develops and implements corrective measures as required.
  • Monitors credit union procedures and results in the lending services area and initiatives and/or recommends improvements to advance efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Attends/delegates attendance at Credit Committee meetings and follows-up on items arising from the meetings.
  • Promotes the credit union’s image in the community through attendance and participation in community organizations and events. Makes public presentations at events such as schools, colleges, universities, local service groups, job fairs, etc.
  • Provides substantive input on the operating budget annually and is responsible for ensuring that the required sales and relationship activities required to achieve it are in place. Monitors results and takes corrective action as appropriate.
  • Acts as back-up to the President and CEO in his/her absence, excluding matters of finance and operations.
  • Adhere strictly to Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing (AMLTF) compliance
  • Completes other projects and duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

The Vice President, Member Experience have successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Business or Commerce plus have six to nine years senior management experience in a financial institution with knowledge of Retail and Commercial Lending,  or equivalent combination of training and experience. Must have strong leadership experience.

As a member of the Employee Experience team, the HR Specialist actively supports the Total Rewards Program and the management of the Human Resources Management System (HRMS).

How you’ll be spending your time

  • On a monthly basis and within the required timeframes, complete the pay calculations and required documentation for the commission pay programs and respond to related inquiries.
  • Support the Manager, Compensation with the administration of the annual compensation cycle including but not limited to market pricing, compensation surveys, annual merit increases, compensation plan design and analysis, incentive payments, budget and industry research.
  • Working with the HRMS Specialist, ensure the value and utilization of the HRMS by supporting the development, testing and execution of infrastructure advancement including module expansion, HR program development and integration (e.g. succession, performance development, recruitment), data correlation, etc.; while ensuring system integrity.
  • Provide input into the processes and policies to ensure efficient and accurate use of the system.
  • Ensure employee data is available to enable operational and strategic decisions/goals by customizing, enhancing, maintaining and utilizing HRMS functionality (e.g. reporting).
  • Participate in strategic projects to support the organization’s strategies and vision (e.g. workforce planning, system integration, budget, business intelligence, data sourcing/sharing, etc.).
  • Ensure proper handling of all personal and confidential records related to employee records are administered and maintained in accordance with privacy legislation, etc.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of user documentation; including reporting capabilities for management.
  • Analyze formal test results to discover and resolve defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues, and interoperability flaws.
  • Process HRMS data transactions (employee changes, terminations, etc.).

The experience you bring

  • 3+ years of experience in a relevant or related industry such as human resources, accounting, or finance.
  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant or related field such as business or finance.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and strong business writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively identify, break down and solve complex business problems with appropriate levels of collaboration and support.
  • Knowledge and sound understanding of applicable federal and provincial legislation and regulatory requirements related to the areas of accountability such as the Saskatchewan Employment Standards Act and Saskatchewan Human Rights Code.
  • Experience with commission-based sales programs is an asset.

The bigger picture

We’re looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented person to come on board as our Digital Marketing Specialist. The Digital Marketing Specialist will help manage all aspects of online advertising, including social media, search engines, websites, and analytics.

As the Digital Marketing Specialist, you will participate in planning, developing and deploying various general awareness and targeted digital media tactics in order to generate traffic and leads for our core banking products and services and to increase brand awareness for Conexus and its sub-brands.

How you’ll be spending your time

  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing & Member Engagement Manager to develop the digital marketing strategy; planning, execution refinement and analysis, by leveraging consumer and commercial insights.
  • Manage the day-to-day execution, optimization and reporting of online marketing campaigns for Conexus and sub-brands.
  • Develop new and creative growth strategies and innovative solutions for member acquisition and retention.
  • Plan and execute all digital marketing tactics in alignment with department plans, including SEO/SEM, keyword management, email marketing, social media, re-marketing and display advertising campaigns.
  • Measure and report the performance of all digital marketing campaigns and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs).
  • Perform keyword research and competitive analysis to optimize content and identify trends and insights to optimize spend and performance.
  • Plan execute and measure experiments and conversion tests.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to manage website content using CMS and create landing pages and targeted advertising tactics to optimize the user experience and drive conversions.

  • At least four years of experience in performance marketing or digital advertising roles.
  • Required knowledge of website analytics and ad serving tools, including Google Adwords.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Products including Analytics and Search Console, My Business, Tag Manager and more.
  • Must have prior experience in handling a significant SEM ad budget.
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in digital marketing and measurement.
