Onboarding & Engagement Coordinator – Prairie Payments Joint Venture (PPJV)

About PPJV:

In response to the rapidly changing payments landscape and the multiyear Payments Canada modernization initiative, the Centrals of Alberta, Manitoba (CUCM) and Saskatchewan formed a joint venture known as PPJV on behalf of all prairie credit unions. PPJV resources are in year two of a multi-year project to move to a payments as a service model with IBM. They are also intent upon streamlining the payments functions between the three Centrals. The goal is to ensure prairie credit unions are competitive in payments and have access to efficient, cost-effective, modernized payments processing infrastructure.

 

The Position

PPJV is currently seeking an Onboarding & Engagement Coordinator to work with the credit union engagement team as they onboard credit unions into various payment streams. This is a contractor position with an initial term of 9 months.

As Coordinator, you will support the engagement team to ensure engagement activities are successful. This involves coordination of meetings between PPJV, credit unions and other partners including the creation and communication of agreed key messages. Managing access to Teams Engagement Channels as well as the Engagement@ppijv.com email box are key responsibilities. Maintenance of the Master Credit Union Spreadsheets and supporting master payments agreement processes and inquiries are also important elements of this role.

 

The Person

You possess a high school diploma, complemented with additional courses, and 4-5 years of related experience in a financial services customer service role. You are proficient with all tools in the Microsoft office suite, and know how to manage meetings smoothly on a virtual system. Exercising judgement and discretion in interpreting guidelines and discovering and comprehending customer needs are among your strongest competencies.

Problem-solving, initiative and strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary to be successful in this role. Knowing when and what to escalate along with skillful tracking and follow up are just some of the skills you’ll use to support the engagement team.

This position is currently designated as a remote position. Ideally, candidates will be located in our current customer areas of Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba.

The Position

PPJV is currently seeking applications for a Director, Operations to oversee delivery of payment operations services and lead the operations team during the transition to an amalgamated business model. This is a full time, management level position.

As Director of Operations, you will lead all aspects of people management for operations team members located in Calgary and Winnipeg. Key accountabilities include managing the delivery of ongoing payments services to agreed service, quality and compliance levels including the management of key IT vendors, while also developing strategies and plans for operations optimization including Fraud and customer contact functions. Within your team, you will be supporting related IT resources as they develop and carry out projects to meet business needs and install new products/services. Contact with customers, key resources at the centrals and other parts of the PPJV organization are an important aspect of your role.

 

The Person

You possess a related University degree and 10+ years of related experience including people leadership. An MBA would be a major asset, as would additional professional designations such as PMP and ITIL. Knowledge of the financial services industry with previous financial services industry experience, including understanding of the Payments Canada clearing and settlement framework and/or Interac systems and processes are some of your strongest competencies. A clear understanding of the systems development lifecycle and knowledge of Canadian Payment Association (CPA) rules and standards round out your resume. Experience with Printing Services, Fraud processes and Operational Procedures and Controls would be beneficial.

This position is currently designated as a work from home position, and will eventually be involved in limited business travel. Ideally, candidates will be located in our customer areas of Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba.

Loans Manager / Loans Officer

THE POSITION – Loans Manager

Reporting to the General Manager, the Loans Manager will:

  • Collaborate in the development of corporate strategies, policies and risk management plans;
  • Manage, monitor and grow the credit union’s loan portfolio, proactively working to retain and expand member relationships;
  • Ensure that all lending activities are in compliance with relevant legislation and regulations;
  • Provide coaching, inspiration and leadership to a high performance team delivering quality member service and duty of care;
  • Provide lending services to current and potential members including recognizing their needs in order to promote and cross-sell LCU products;
  • Promote Luseland Credit Union and maintain active involvement in the community

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires:

  • 5+ years of lending experience within the industry
  • Background in Finance (B. Comm or equivalent is preferred)
  • Knowledge and experience in resolving complex lending issues related to serving agricultural and/or commercial members
  • Experience working with banking applications
  • Management experience would be considered an asset
  • The incumbent will also have a thorough understanding of the credit union system including operations, principles and values
  • Flexibility within requirements may be provided to the right candidate

THE POSITION – Loans Officer

Reporting to the General Manager, the Loans Officer will:

  • Provide lending services to current members and potential members and administer and control an assigned portion of the loans portfolio;
  • Recognize member needs and promote and cross-sell credit union lending and deposit services; and
  • Ensure all loan activities comply with relevant legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires:

  • Attention to detail
  • Strong leadership and communication skills;
  • Working knowledge of credit union products and services;
  • Desire and ability to be a team leader
  • One-year of post-secondary training plus four to five years of job related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience; or two to four years of relevant post-secondary training.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Accounting and Centralized Services, you will have at least five years’ experience in administration, ideally in a Credit Union or Banking environment.

This is a multi-faceted role that spans several departments within our Credit Union.

Commercial and Retail Loan Administration involves member-facing activities, all of which are dealt with in a confidential, courteous and professional manner. Commercial and Retail Loan Administration involves back office support activities such as recording and processing loan applications, completing departmental reports, conducting credit checks and lien searches as well as registering and releasing security. Member Service Representative

 The Accountant role is a critical role within our finance department, providing financial accounting to the credit union and its subsidiary.

Position Overview

The Accountant position performs a variety of duties relating to corporate accounting and treasury support. Key responsibilities of this role include assisting in preparing financial reports, accounts payable, processing, GL reconciliations, accruals, allocations, balancing organization general ledger accounts, and daily cash flow forecast. This position will also provide support to Accounting Administrators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • AP, AR and month end duties
  • Preparing AP runs, including communication with management and vendors
  • Allocating expenses and reconciling suspense accounts
  • Daily cash flow analysis and communication of treasury details to management

Position Overview

As part of the Systems Department, this position will provide support to internal clients and the systems team analyzing, developing and supporting information-based solutions with the Microsoft Power BI tool. It is also responsible for designing, developing and publishing reports and dashboards for information / operational needs based on best practices in business intelligence and data visualization as well as documenting Power BI solutions.
This includes:
• Support Data Warehouse, ETL creation and modification
• Working with SQL database
• Creating, maintaining and troubleshooting of report automation, as well as producing daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports
• Training and support for users of the Power BI tool.
• Analysis of business data to convert larger data sets into digestible reports
• Resolution of escalated help desk tickets.
• Assist with user acceptance testing and training for newly developed data sets, reports, dashboards and processes

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics or related discipline combined with 1-3 years of experience working with Business Intelligence tools.
• Knowledge of MS Power BI as well as SSRS, MS SQL Server, Excel and Visio.
• Relevant years of experience as well as industry knowledge will be considered in lieu of formal education.
