A day in the life as an Assistant Manager, Business Banking:

You will support the Manager, Business Banking Brandon & Rural by assisting with the execution of strategies created in support of organizational advice and service objectives.
You will have a good understanding of small business, commercial, agriculture and advisory services, and be an inspiring team member who is ready to ensure productivity and quality performance to achieve Westoba’s long-term company vision.
You will collaborate with the Manager, Business Banking Brandon & Rural and with other members of the leadership team to execute strategic plans, policies, and operational procedures.
You will foster and maintain a positive work environment conducive to high performing teams and highly engaged staff.
You will be responsible for a portfolio comprising of a mix of agriculture and commercial accounts.
You will negotiate, structure, and recommend loans for approval to the appropriate approval authorities.
You will Manage portfolios including day-to-day decisions, annual reviews, risk mitigation with a strong emphasis on business development and member retention.
You will evaluate the performance of staff, coach and support individual training and development needs.
You will support and develop new and existing account managers through coaching and hands on training.

What you bring to the table:

Post-secondary education is required, a diploma in Agribusiness / Business Administration / Commerce or similar is preferred.
Three to Five years of commercial, real estate, and/or agriculture banking experience is expected; 1-3 years’ experience in a leadership or mentorship role is preferred.
Proven success in sales and business development
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
A high-energy individual who is self-motivated and who can get things done.

A day in the life as a Manager, Business Banking – Brandon/Westman Area:

Lead and coach direct reports to ensure policies, procedures and programs enhance the quality of the work environment and ensure that the credit union fulfils its responsibility as an employer.
Foster and maintain a positive work environment conducive to high performing teams and highly engaged staff.
Manage and oversee a portfolio of high valued members.
Represents Westoba Credit Union in the Brandon and Westman region.
Evaluate the performance of staff; coach and support individual training and development needs.
Collaborate with the Senior Management and with other members of the leadership team to execute strategic plans, policies, and operational procedures.
Grow Westoba’s business banking portfolio through enhanced advice and service delivery models which include online and virtual services.
Proactively monitor department results against targets to ensure organizational efficiencies and increased revenues are achieved.
Ensure appropriate internal controls at the department level; monitor all business lending activities ensuring compliance with legislation, regulations, and Westoba’s policies and procedures.
Prepare and implement comprehensive business plans to facilitate financial target achievement by planning cost-effective operations and market development activities.

Post-secondary education is required, a diploma in Business Administration is preferred.
Five to seven years of commercial and agriculture banking experience is expected; minimum five years in a leadership experience is expected.

Manager, Credit Risk & Adjudication

Are you an expert in interpreting lending policies and procedures and recommends alternative approaches to minimize risk to a credit union? A day in the life as a Manager, Credit Risk & Adjudication:

You will be responsible for managing the credit adjudication department and team. Ensuring credit approvals are provided in a timely fashion or escalated where necessary, service delivery is per agreed Service Level Agreement and Westoba’s interest is protected
You will provide feedback to the retail and business banking teams on the viability of retail and commercial/agricultural credit applications, as well the associated credit risks
You will participate in development of policies and procedures and act as an agent of change
You will support the credit union’s Enterprise Risk Management by reporting key risk indicators and communicating emerging trends
You will collaborate with executives and other senior leaders in areas including budgeting, spending, and evaluation
You will develop and evaluate performance standards with direct reports to build a team of qualified, professional, and capable employees through training, coaching, and mentoring
You will translate organizational objectives into achievable operational goals and facilitate the process of goal setting, monitoring and evaluation with direct reports
You will ensure areas of responsibility meet the requirements of the DGCM, as well applicable legislation, regulations, and the credit union’s policies and procedures
You will support the VP Risk management in achieving organizational goals & objectives

What you will bring to the table:

Post-secondary education such as a bachelor’s degree in business administration/commerce is expected; a master’s degree is preferred
A professional designation such as CFA, FRM preferred
Five to Seven years’ experience in a leadership role and overall, fifteen years experience is expected; experience supporting the development and execution of corporate strategy, as well leading credit risk and adjudication efforts is preferred; Previous financial institution experience within a leadership capacity is required.
