As a Senior Advisor, you will build deep relationships with members by learning what is important to them and then providing customized, advice-driven solutions that will guide them on their financial journey.

What you’ll do:

  • Advise members on a full range of deposit and investment products, including new personal and business accounts, mutual funds, registered products, and term deposits.
  • Offer personal and small business lending products and services, including mortgages, personal loans, lines of credit, credit cards, and associated insurance products.
  • Service and manage an assigned portfolio of estate accounts.
  • Interview loan applicants, analyze credit information, and make recommendations on creditworthiness.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities within an assigned portfolio and through referrals, connecting members to colleagues when appropriate to ensure the members’ financial needs are fully met.
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of the financial planning process by partnering with organizational specialists who can assist members with customized financial solutions.
  • Take a lead role in promotions and other activities to build the membership base and have a positive impact on the community.

What you’ll bring:

  • Two years of post-secondary education or equivalent.
  • 4 to 6 years of progressive experience, including cash, investments, and lending services.
  • Registration as a Mutual Funds Representative, or enrollment in the Investment Funds in Canada (IFC) course within 3 months of attaining position, with the intention to register as a Mutual Funds Representative.
  • Strong sales record, with an aptitude for business development and relationship building.

As the Manager, Central Credit and under the direction of the Director, Credit you will manage SASCU’s personal credit approval, administration, and review activities. This position ensures that proposed loans adhere to existing policy guidelines, that documentation is adequate to ensure security of collateral and that ongoing administration and review is adequate to maintain the loan portfolio’s quality and profitability while enabling portfolio growth.  Additionally, this position manages and directs departmental employees and ensures that they receive adequate training, coaching, and support; acts as resources to ensure lending policies and procedures are followed and administrative lending risk is minimized.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Perform reviews, analysis and approvals of credit applications, managing risk within credit granting approval limits; identify areas of potential loss or liability and initiate action to minimize exposure to risk;
  • Support Director, Credit in developing realistic operational plans and budgets to ensure that the needs of the credit union are met in the personal lending area;
  • Manage the credit union’s personal lending portfolios to ensure they are managed according to established practices and procedures;

  • A business administration degree or diploma is preferred;

What you’ll bring:

Along with a post-secondary degree in a related field, you will have a minimum of 5-7 years’ experience with internal control and risk management within a financial institution. Other experience and education requirements include:

  • A strong understanding of branch operations, including cash and member services, as well as personal lending.
  • Advanced knowledge of credit union banking systems, retail products, processes, terminology, and current procedures.
  • The ability to obtain the Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (ACAMS) designation within 12 months of attaining the role.

  • Manage and direct the overall operation of the Wealth division, and monitor Insurance branch activities, ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures and standards;

As the qualified professional we seek for the key role of Director, Wealth & Insurance, you will have the following profile:

  • Post-secondary degree, preferably an MBA, and experience in progressively more complex roles in the Wealth or Insurance field, with 7 to 10 years’ combined industry/sales experience, most recently in a senior management role.

The Investment Specialist delivers on the SASCU Member Experience by identifying member needs, building sound modular financial plans, and partnering to actively promote the growth of all SASCU products and services.

What you’ll do:

  • Build and maintain a book of business by sourcing new business, building relationships with other SASCU business lines and developing existing member and community relationships.
  • Set and meet sales, growth and professional development targets.
  • Build both internal and external networks to capitalize on business referral opportunity.
  • Prepare and present financial strategies appropriate for the achievement of the client’s specific goals and objectives.
  • Provide comprehensive investment, insurance and financial advice in a way that educates the client and enables them to make sound financial choices.
  • Sell SASCU on and off-book (mutual fund) investment products.
  • Provision of ongoing client service, financial goal review, needs analysis, and portfolio rebalancing as appropriate to proactively identify existing and emerging needs.
  • Build high-trust member relationships by consistently following through on commitments, being proactive with client contact efforts and providing value-added financial advice that enables the client to improve their financial position over time.
  • Work closely with credit union peers to provide members with next level financial products and advice and to help clients establish sound financial habits, eventually referring them to a SASCU Financial Planner based on account size, life stage or complexity of needs.
  • Partner with credit union peers through referral or joint client meetings to consolidate business held elsewhere and provide the right product at the right time.
  • Serve as an internal resource for SASCU peers in the provision of financial products and services.

 What you’ll bring:

  • A post-secondary education.
  • At least 3 years of investment related experience in a fast-paced professional sales role.
  • Valid and current BC Mutual Funds License (IFIC/Canadian Securities). CFP (or PFP) designation or specialization is an asset. Willingness to attain designation within a 3-year period.
  • Professional level knowledge of Canadian investment, insurance, and financial planning products, strategies, and concepts.

As a Senior Advisor at one of our Salmon Arm branches, you will build deep relationships with members, first, by seeking to understand what is important to them, and then by providing customized, advice-driven solutions that will guide them on their financial journey as it relates to their overall financial picture.

What you’ll do:

  • Advise members on a full range of deposit and investment products, including new personal and business accounts, cards, term deposits, registered products, and mutual funds and associated services.
  • Advise members regarding personal and small business lending products and services, including mortgages, personal loans, lines of credit, MasterCard application and associated insurance products.
  • Service and manage estate accounts within an assigned portfolio.
  • Interview loan applicants, analyze credit information, assess credit and make recommendations to Centralized Credit.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities within the assigned portfolio or through referrals, and, when appropriate, connect the member to another colleague within your team to ensure all of the member’s financial needs are met.
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of the financial planning process by partnering with organizational specialists who can assist members with customized financial solutions.
  • Take a lead role in various marketing promotions and other activities to build the membership base and have a positive impact on the community.
  • Take personal responsibility for delivery of the SASCU Member Experience and contribute to the team creation of a warm and welcoming environment.

What you’ll bring:

  • Two (2) years’ post-secondary education or equivalent
  • 4 to 6 years’ progressive experience, including cash, investments and lending services.
  • Registration as a Mutual Funds Representative, or enrollment in the Investment Funds in Canada (IFC) course within 3 months of attaining position, with the intention to register as a Mutual Funds Representative.
  • Strong sales record, with an aptitude for business development and relationship building.
  • Ability to quickly acquire an advanced understanding of SASCU products and services, policies and procedures, as well as branch and specialist roles.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • High level of ownership, accountability and initiative.
