Williams Lake and District Credit Union has an exciting opportunity for an energetic, service-focused Administrator to work out of the Williams Lake Branch. This is an 18-month contract position that may lead to full-time employment following completion of the contract.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Accounting and Centralized Services, you will have at least five years’ experience in administration, ideally in a Credit Union or Banking environment.

This is a multi-faceted role that spans several departments within our Credit Union.

Commercial and Retail Loan Administration involves member-facing activities, all of which are dealt with in a confidential, courteous and professional manner. Commercial and Retail Loan Administration involves back office support activities such as recording and processing loan applications, completing departmental reports, conducting credit checks and lien searches as well as registering and releasing security. Further duties include maintaining loan files, preparing and typing routine correspondence, monitoring for required loan account reviews while adhering to all internal policies and procedures.

Accounting and Clearing related activities include conducting daily member account clearing activities and assisting with various accounting related duties which require assistance with setting up new accounting software under the guidance of management/external consultants.

As the ideal candidate you will have relevant tertiary education, possess excellent communication skills and have a commitment to delivering outstanding service.

Accountant

We’re hiring a full-time temporary Accountant!

 The Accountant role is a critical role within our finance department, providing financial accounting to the credit union and its subsidiary.

Position Overview

The Accountant position performs a variety of duties relating to corporate accounting and treasury support. Key responsibilities of this role include assisting in preparing financial reports, accounts payable, processing, GL reconciliations, accruals, allocations, balancing organization general ledger accounts, and daily cash flow forecast. This position will also provide support to Accounting Administrators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • AP, AR and month end duties
  • Preparing AP runs, including communication with management and vendors
  • Allocating expenses and reconciling suspense accounts
  • Daily cash flow analysis and communication of treasury details to management
  • Timely delivery of financial statements and other reports

Skills & Attributes:

  • Knowledge of full cycle accounting
  • Strength in overall verbal and written communication
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Learning and working within various systems and technologies
  • Strong proficiency in Excel

Experience & Education:

  • Preferred minimum 3-year experience in accounting
  • Some treasury experience an asset
  • CPA student 1st or 2nd year desired

Accounting Administrator

We’re hiring full-time temporary Accounting Administrator!

Do you have a passion for helping people and an eye for the details? We are looking for a diligent, full-time Accounting Administrator to fill a temporary 18 month position within our Finance Team.

Position Overview

The Accounting Administrator is a key position responsible for a wide variety of accounting and administrative functions within our finance department.

Individuals should be organized, accurate and conscientious; have exposure to financial institution products and service; possess knowledge of common accounting practices. In addition, the individual should provide exceptional internal service, demonstrate very good communication skills both verbal and written, and have the ability to handle a variety of responsibility areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • GL reconciliation; registered plans, deposit agents and suspense accounts
  • Administration and compliance reporting; Registered plans and deposit agents
  • Accept wires; Accepting and compliance reporting
  • Communication; Communication between finance and the Credit Union
  • Administrative support for branch operations; Outages, clearing, and following up with members when needed

Skills and Attributes

  • Excel; Strong proficiency
  • Strong communication skills; Strength in overall verbal and written communication
  • Diligence; Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adaptability; Learning and working within various systems and technologies
  • Accounting and bookkeeping skills; Knowledgeable about accounting fundamentals

Experience & Education 

  • Preferred minimum 1-year experience in accounting
  • Working knowledge of RRSP’s and RESP’s
  • Accounting or bookkeeping courses are an asset
