An exciting opportunity exists, for an experienced Credit Advisor to join our team. ABCU Credit Union Ltd. (ABCU) is a full-service open bond Credit Union. The Credit Advisor is a key member of the member experience team. The primary responsibility of this role is to actively manage and provide credit advice to the credit members who deal with ABCU for their borrowing needs. Additional responsibilities include engagement activities to retain and consolidate existing members’ business to the Credit Union and attract new credit member growth. This position works closely with the Credit Associate, Contact Centre, Branch staff and Risk Management. The role requires expert knowledge of credit products and the ability to negotiate rates and fees in the best interest of the credit union.

Experience Required

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma required.
  • Comfort and ability to work with an elevated level of detail/accuracy.
  • This is a self-managed role.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • The ability to work efficiently without sacrificing accuracy is essential.
  • Six to ten years of job-related/industry experience.
  • Completion of the Personal Lending and Mortgages Course (PLM) offered through Canadian Securities Institute.
  • Completion of the Personal Financial Services Advice (PFSA) offered through Canadian Securities Institute.
  • Completion of CUIC General Studies Program preferred or working towards (may be waived depending upon position).
  • A combination of post-secondary education and work experience will be considered.

  • 5-7 years of progressive financial industry experience in investments and lending, including 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Registered as a mutual funds representative, or enrolled in an applicable course upon commencement and registered within 3 months.

What are we looking for?

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in a related discipline (e.g. Commerce and Business Administration) requiring 3 – 4 years of full-time study or equivalent.
  • Minimum six (6) years’ experience as an Investment Advisor or equivalent role.
  • Hold an IIROC license as a Registered Representative in the Province of BC.
  • Hold a Life, Disability and Health Insurance license in the Province of BC required within 12 months of commencement of the position
  • Minimum (8) years progressive financial industry experience considered an asset

Prairie Centre Credit Union, Saskatchewan’s largest rural-based credit union, currently has a permanent full-time Financial Specialist opportunity available. The successful candidate will be a proactive, self-motivated individual who will provide exceptional service to our members within the LeRoy branch. Reporting to the Manager Financial Specialists, the Financial Specialist will have a strong aptitude for relationship-building and will deliver expert advice to both current and prospective members to assist them in meeting their financial objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Build value-based relationships with colleagues and members
  • Provide solutions that support the financial wellbeing of members, through the delivery of deposit, investment, and loan products, including specializing in the function of investment planning
  • Promote, sell, and manage the mutual fund and term deposit book of business for the region, and ensure that growth targets are achieved
  • Collaborate with the regional team to develop creative and innovative approaches to achieving results
  • Develop and implement business development, growth, and community engagement strategies

Qualifications:

  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or Personal Financial Planning (PFP) designation, or willingness to obtain
  • Mutual Fund License including Labour Sponsored Funds, or willingness to obtain
  • Industry experience preferred, with a demonstrated ability to gather assets
  • Sales-oriented background with a strong understanding of the sales process and business development
