Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation (the Corporation) is the deposit guarantor for Saskatchewan credit unions and the primary regulator for Saskatchewan credit unions and SaskCentral. We work closely with these institutions to ensure they employ sound business practices to enhance the strength and stability of the Saskatchewan credit union system.

How you will spend your time:

Reporting to the Vice-President, Regulatory Oversight, this position oversees the department responsible for the development and implementation of regulatory policy, preventive initiatives, and oversight of the deposit guarantee fund.

You will:

  • Oversee regulatory policy to ensure an effective and responsible framework for the regulation of Saskatchewan credit unions and SaskCentral, together Provincially Regulated Financial Institutions (PRFIs), is applied
  • Develop and recommend board policies, strategic initiatives, and planning, budgeting and allocating resources for departmental activities to achieve business plans
  • Guide the development, recommendation and implementation of policies for the deposit guarantee fund, including fund target and assessment policies
  • Collaborate with all other senior management positions to ensure that corporate efforts are aligned and plans are achievable. 

What you’ll need:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or business supplemented with a graduate degree or designation in accounting/finance
  • Five years progressive leadership experience
  • Advanced knowledge of the financial services industry including international best practices in financial services regulation

Associate Manager, Internal Audit

We are looking for an experienced professional to support delivery of the Internal Audit program to meet the needs of credit unions while providing profitability and sustainability to SaskCentral.

The Job:
Reporting to the Manager, Internal Audit, you will manage internal audit activities, determine the nature of audit engagements, support engagement planning, review working papers and issue final reports. You will present audit findings to multiple stakeholders, including credit union executives, boards of directors and audit committees. You will support a group of management consultants and liaise with credit unions to ensure their audit issues are resolved and their needs are met. As a seasoned professional, you will build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, external auditors, clients and stakeholders. You will also ensure best practices are met by maintaining knowledge of changes in the financial services sector and regulatory and compliance environment. This position requires flexibility and travel.

The Candidate:
You will have a degree in business administration coupled with an understanding of internal audit standards and best practices and 2 to 3 years’ experience in the internal audit field. A professional accounting designation or Certified Internal Auditor designation would be an asset. You will understand the legislative and compliance environment of credit unions and the overall financial services sector. An understanding of sound lending practices and anti-money laundering legislation would be beneficial. Strong written communication and facilitation skills are required to be successful in this role. Relationship management, analytical and strategic thinking skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and prioritize are also required. You will be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment with multiple stakeholders, and will exercise sound judgment while providing recommendations and solutions.

Churchbridge Credit Union is currently seeking an experienced Wealth Advisor to join our team. This permanent full time position will be based out of both of our branch locations in Churchbridge and Langenburg.

Reporting to the Deposit & Support Services Manager, the Wealth Advisor supports the credit union’s business strategy through the provision of a full range of deposit and investment services to a portfolio of higher net worth members ($100,000 plus) with comprehensive investment and financial planning needs. This position identifies member investments and financial planning needs and goals and works with members to develop wealth management plans and related strategies. They will manage an assigned portfolio of accounts in compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.

In addition to being an integral part of the wealth department, the Wealth Advisor will also support the wealth and deposit team by providing support, advice, and coaching on investment products and services. This role will proactively seek business development opportunities with current and potential members for wealth management and credit union subsidiary products and services.

Qualifications
This position requires:
• College, Trade, or Tech School Diploma (2 years) in a related discipline;

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in an investment/financial planning (including deposit products)
and advisory position managing a portfolio of higher net worth individuals on an MFDA or IIROC
environment, with demonstrated ability to gather assets;
• Solid administration, sales support, team support/coaching and organization skills;
• Thorough understanding of financial products and services;
• Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or Personal Financial Planning (PFP) designation, or willingness
to obtain within 2 years;
