Reporting directly to the Director, Risk (Monitoring) and indirectly to the Director, Risk (Examinations), the Manager, Risk Assessment acts as DGCM’s primary liaison with a group of assigned cu/caisse. The position is responsible for the monitoring and follow-up of material risks identified at assigned cu/caisse; and leading or participating in the examinations of other cu/caisse.

Selection Criteria:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills

  • Familiarity with enterprise risk management, internal audit, and compliance

  • Act as the primary contact internally and externally regarding risk and security matters including with regulators, internal auditors, and local law enforcement.
  • Monitor, investigate, and track losses due to fraud, forgery, and theft.
  • Assume a leadership role in business resumption and crisis management planning.
  • Oversee outsourced arrangements for SASCU.
  • Act as Credit Union Office of Crime Prevention and Investigation (CUOCPI) designate for SASCU.
  • Conduct Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) reporting.
  • Provide leadership to the Procedures & AML Analyst.

 

What you’ll bring:

Along with a post-secondary degree in a related field, you will have a minimum of 5-7 years’ experience with internal control and risk management within a financial institution. Other experience and education requirements include:

  • A strong understanding of branch operations, including cash and member services, as well as personal lending.
  • Advanced knowledge of credit union banking systems, retail products, processes, terminology, and current procedures.
  • The ability to obtain the Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (ACAMS) designation within 12 months of attaining the role.
  • The Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation is an asset.

 

Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and the ability to learn specialized software specific to risk management are expected. Strong organization, communication, analytical, and coaching skills are also essential. The successful candidate must be able to present complex information to several audiences with varying levels of understanding. Given the nature of this position, a meticulous attention to detail, an ability and willingness to research information internally and externally, and being able to adaptively work with various stakeholders and changing priorities are required.

Senior Audit Analyst

Reporting to the Manager, Audit for the CUs inSync partners of Conexus, Cornerstone and Innovation Credit Unions are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team.  The Senior Audit Analyst will work with audit staff conducting risk-based audits which encompass all areas of credit union operations and follow the Institute of Internal Auditors Standards. This position is also responsible for:

  • Leading and conducting risk-based audits with respect to all areas of credit union operations following the Institute of Internal Auditors Standards
  • Creating and providing/communicating reports on audit results to the appropriate audit management; participating in audit committee meetings if/when required
  • Leading the audit process (e.g. scoping meeting, closing/discharging audit, reporting overall results and recommendations to leaders, and completing follow-up on “Management Action Plans”)

Finance Manager / Controller

  • Manages the full financial year accounting cycle for the credit union.
  • Acts as the primary contact for the external audit process.

  • Provides all required financial reporting – documenting and presenting current and projected financial performance for management, board members, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • Responsible for all financial tools, processes, procedures and ensuring appropriate financial controls are in place; makes recommendations to the CEO where changes in policy are required to address gaps or strengthen existing practices.
  • Manages the credit union investment portfolio
  • Manages the accounting administration team

Qualification and Skill Requirements

The successful candidate will possess post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field, and CPA designation completed or in progress.  An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles, and an understanding of credit union regulatory requirements,

THE POSITION:  The Manager, Operational Risk reports to the Chief Risk Officer and leads the development and implementation of the operational risk management framework.
